Interestingly, the previous time out, I couldn't get it to pick up rimfire, .38spl, or .45-70.  I tried the microphone and various settings, including Doppler.  I don't know what I was doing wrong that day.

I wasn't against a side wall, which the troubleshooting says may be an issue, but there was a wall beside my target.  I can't see how that would be an issue.  Troubleshooting also mentioned bullet shape, and they were 535gr Postell and 405gr lead flat nose slugs.  I am going to go with poor device aiming and I really need to install a sighting tube in the v-groove.

This past Sunday, I set it to audible trigger, sensitivity 1, and it accurately picked up every .223 and .308 round I fired, not a single erroneous reading or missed shot.  I spent a little more time making sure of the vertical positioning and aim.  I may have had it pointed downward a bit too much last time.

Cheers!

I've got a Streamlight USB power supply. Well-protected and waterproof plastic case.  Comes with USB cord.  I think I paid $38 for it and it lasts several range trips before a recharge is needed.

You might try a simple Swanson square...makes it very simple to align the Labrador even on very far targets....Holding it on the radar in a vertical position makes it easy to adjust for height, and holding it on the case horizontally  makes it simple for aiming it side ti side.....

If you have a 3d printer or know someone with one, there are bolt on sights available.  I recommend PETG or ABS over PLA

Last range trip the iPhone to LR connection would keep disconnecting.... in the middle of a string. I adjusted the phone and LR so neither would sleep and it still continued to occur.

Haven't had this issue happen so consistently before. I was on the 15 yrd pistol range and wonder if the shorter distance had anything to do with it.

Adjusted the distances to all read before the 15 yds just for recording purposes. Set the projectile weight and Pistol correctly. Phone was only inches from LR. It would stay connected when the line went cold and took the phone to check targets. Only happened in the middle of a string... I would reconnect, begin the string and it would disconnect.

Wish there was a hardwire connection option at this point.

Nothing I'm aware of, just make sure your firmware is updated, and the general consensus is that the $5 DIY recoil trigger is by far the best most reliable option.

One thing that I did to mine that made my life easier, was to install a cheap red dot sight from amazon and a pic rail section from eBay.
I used the speed square technique to co witness the sight adjustment.

The main things I gained is rapid alignment and it's easy to tell at a glance if the alignment changes for some/any reason.

I was thinking of doing the same thing.

Question is where and how to mount it so it can still fit in a carry case? Easy enough to remove the reddot from the rail, but the rail to the LR should be a more permanent attachment.

Got a pic of it mounted on your LR?

Yes, I have a few, but I haven't learned how to post them here yet.
If someone could point me to the instructions, I would much appreciate it.

For those who didn't catch it, LR released a new firmware v1.3.3 on May 31 to further address bluetooth issues.

WTF is "connection problem caused by advertising interval"?

It's basically the rate/interval of which the Labradar sent data packets via bluetooth to devices in order to connect was causing synchronization issues either due to interference from too many data packets being sent too frequently or not enough data packets being sent leading to issues with the device being unable to discover the Labradar.

It really is hard to believe that the makers of Labradar could take a mature technology and commodity chip like Bluetooth and manage to fuck it up so completely and thoroughly.

It defies explanation. If they weren't trying to sell the product I would think it was deliberate sabotage.

Other than that it's a great product. :)

Bluetooth, and Bluetooth Low Energy (which has the advertising interval settings - standard Bluetooth uses a different scheme that is less challenging to set up) are almost different technologies.  Yes there are “mature” chipsets, and drivers for many operating systems, whatever OS Labradar uses probably doesn’t have off-the-shelf drivers.

It’s not rocket science, but it DOES take a good amount of planning and testing to determine the correct settings - and being ready to change them when real-world use proves they need adjustment.  Further, that testing needs to be done with “the crappiest, cheapest, worst condition phone we can find” to ensure performance across the range of customer hardware.

Otherwise, you can limit your testing to a smaller set of phones and tablets, but you MUST then warn customers that your stuff won’t work with “anything made before 201x”.  The first option is time consuming but good for ensuring customers can just use the hardware.  The second is quicker, but will alienate customers.

LabRadar's work well.

I went with this battery. The battery pack has lasted several range sessions without needing a charge after a full charge.
I paired it up with magnetic connectors to keep from having to plug the USB in. I used the connectors like these . USB is cheesy and they tend to wear quickly. The magnetic connectors keep that from happening and have the bonus that if the cable is inadvertently snagged, the magnet pops right off with not damage.

The mount is important as others have said. I went with the LabRadar tripod since it usually sits on a bench.

I did pick up a recoil trigger and really like it. I went with Piet and it has worked great. I simply stuck a section of ladder rail covers on it. It attaches to the rail of my AR's or sits nicely on the scope mount under my scope on my bolt.

I have a hard case for it. It is one from Harbor Freight and it works really well. It contains everything in padded protection.

I use this tripod as well, not just for labradar but also for spotting scopes..besides the two choices you have pictured the third position is the best for the lab radar...I have replaced the stock head with a neewer ball head, but thats so I can run Swiss-arca on everything I own and it all interchanges..

OP, if you don't want to worry about recording junk shots from others, you can buy trigger that plugs right in, its a nice thing to have...

Yes, it goes small enough to sit on a bench or extend it put on leg folded up on the bench, the other two on ground..

For any who might want these, vortex summit ss-p light tripod, it looks like vortex is not making them anymore, they have one similar out of carbon fiber,(doesn't look like the center post screws in half though) but its double the cost..It does look like retailers still have them in stock so if you want one, get on it..

ETA:  more pics...If you look close you can see the r recoil trigger plugged into the labradar and stuck to the side of the rifle right over the bolt opening...

I carry my Labrador in a backpack with all my other gear...If you look close you can see my Ipad in the pocket, next in is the Labrador with the screen facing the back wall to protect it...next in is the first of 2 50 round boxes, along with both battery packs and a rear bag..finally on top is my electronic ear muffs and a few odds and ends..works really good for me...
