So I have a first gen GSG-5, it has a good 10-20k rounds thru it..... Yeah, it has been a good gun with very little actual maintenance required on it during that time. Replaced a hammer spring, two bolts striped on the bolt housing assembly, and had to reprofile the fire pin once as it blunted, but this may be the one that breaks the camels back. I recently noticed the cases starting to bulge near the rim and found the culprit, a crack has formed in the barrel at the extractor groove. Cases are not rupturing, yet, but figured I would see if anyone has any leads on where I might be able to find a replacement? |

I believe the gsg 16 is essential a GSG522 with different plastic by looking at photos. Since the GSG 16 was a more recent production, you might have better luck find a barrel then having it cut down to your desired size. IIRC someone offered barrel cutting service in the arfcom service section for around $80-95 if you end up going that route. The only other option is to call ATI on the phone, give them your serial # & see if they have one. They used to have a few parts squirreled away for existing GSG owners. |

Yup - done the same awhile ago, actually came in handy when I had bulk Winchester explode in battery and split the case inside my barrel, I couldn't get it out...probably ruined the barrel but I was able to swap with a barrel I purchased like 10 years ago. Careful though because there are different barrels floating out there for older/newer gen GSG5s. OP - keep your eye on gunbroker parts "kits" occasionally pop up for our GSGs, find one with a barrel and bid accordingly. |

One of these days I will have to mic mine out and see what it would take to turn one down. I replaced mine back in 2009 when I did the form 1. Still wish I could have got a K version. Mine is mostly a safe queen now days but put a lot of rounds on it. Gen 1 pre lawsuit GSG. The barrel threads into the trunnion block. I may have to see what a reamer costs and some gauges. I may be able to make a couple if I can find time. Figure out how to replicate the extractor cut. |

I did pick up a K parts kit from ATI at one point, but the front sight post was obviously the post-lawsuit version. I tracked down a promag threaded outer barrel for the K barrel, but the attachment method is different than the P barrel. I liked it for a while but it's back in the original configuration for now.
