Got this from a friend, but I don't know squat about them.  My haphazard attempts at market research led me to the following:

40k serial block makes it a Gen 1

It has the oldest school Ring Sight with the faint white ring

It has a whopping $36 T3 illuminator that lights up the crosshairs

Has original box it came in but has been fired.

I tried to do market research on this and prices are all over the place.  It's like green ones sell for more but people pay extra for Gen 1 but then they shit all over the sight but then there's someone desperately looking for the OG sight.

I don't know if I have a stinker or a gem at this point.

I like retro.  I don't need things to be the best, I need them to look like they did in movies or video games.  It came with a 1913 rail adapter but I'm liking the retro look.  This is fine for my juvenile taste, but what is the value on this one?

My buddy needed money for health reasons and I got this for a song, but I am NOT selling it.  Friends don't flip on friends.  Hell, maybe he wants it back next year.

But, I don't know if this is $1000 or $2500.  Friggin market is all over the place.

Fun fact, the mag in it is marked Restricted Law Enforcement only, so it's a pre-2004.

Edit:  Removed the Illuminator briefly and the Ring Sight is a lot better when the light absorber isn't blocked by the LED unit.  It's actually pretty neat.

Funny about color preferences.  Green used to be the least popular.  I guess enough green stocks got dyed or painted that they are now more popular.  With Amazon bringing back Stargate this should gain in popularity.  I have no idea about current prices.

People want the OG Black Ring Sight which came after the white ring. But there's little value over what one can buy the new Black Ring sights for that have factory illumination. Mostly those looking to keep the original lines like the WR/BR sight, as pretty much the market came out with low pro mounts for dots and optics that are WAY better shooting wise than the WR/BR.

The value comes in the Gen 1 hammer pack if indeed that's still in there (may want to check). However some of that value has diminished because aftermarket has produced a gen 1 hammer replacement. I've read there's other components in the Gen 1 pack that may be desirable, but FRT's are on the horizon, so it's hard to say. The pack is probably worth $900-1200+ depending on the market..

I'm no expert but I'm seeing a black hammer in a grey pack with the green inspection dot.  Should be a Gen 1 pack.

Is anyone actually working on an FRT for the PS90?   I have looked around and haven't found anything yet,  and it is a niche firearm.

I’ve heard of at least two companies working on FRT’s for the PS90, they are both replacements for the existing trigger packs.

Here is link to one…..

Check out the FN Forum, it’s an outstanding resource for all things FN:

https://www.fnforum.net/

ANY PS-90, regardless of generation, isn’t going to be a “stinker”, and while the Gen 1s and their infamous trigger packs (specific talk of which is not tolerated on the FN site by the way) are more desirable, later gens hold their value.

Stargate fan boi or not they’re an excellent candidate for SBR’ing.  I would NOT chop the factory barrel and would just cut to the chase and get a new CMMG one and call it a day.  It’s easy enough to install yourself too.

https://fnspecialties.com/cmmg-10-4-barrel-for-ps90/

The so-called USSS (as in Secret Service, as it was an issued PDW to them for a time) sight while dated is hardly ineffective.  The later black ring model is more desirable and while some folks prefer update rail flattops they go for top dollar in the secondary market and worth nearly what the Gen 1 trigger packs go for.  The have the L3 LED illuminator on mine which makes it even more usable.

Fortunately ammo has become (1) much more prolific due to a massive increase in companies offering 5,7 firearms so (2) consequently the price of the ammo has come down.

As it appears in your photo most knowledgeable folks would have no problem paying around $2K +/-, more if it came with the original box, etc.  The price variations due to color desirability have tapered off a bit.

I’d recommend the opposite, and chop and thread the factory barrel. It’s chrome lined, unlike the CMMG replacement barrel. Besides, after you SBR it, what are you going to do with the original long barrel and shroud? I’ve never seen anyone put them back on. (That combo only meets Title I length compliance when it’s blind pinned.)

That’s NOT necessarily a bad idea and one I, like everyone and their mother who SBR a PS-90, considered, but I didn’t want to go through the expense of cutting in only to potentially have an issue, which is NOT uncommon, and then I’d be spending the money, twice.  I still have original barrel and never considered the CMMG NOT being chrome lined as a negative; it’s NOT F/A or FRT’d and 5,7 ammo doesn’t exactly have a reputation for smoking barrels either…

I appreciate the insight fellahs.

I'm building a gun wall and this certainly earns a place on it, but not sure if I like it enough to SBR.

Also seems iffy to SBR (hack up) a Gen 1 and engrave it when I could ditch it and buy a Gen 3 to mutilate.

I will take her to the range and see how she does.

It did come with the original box and five mags.   For $1k.   You can hate me.  It's fine.

For that price, you did good. Prices are all over the place on these due to everything going on now-politics, unemployment, etc., so just like other higher priced guns, there are no hard and fast price guides to these. It is kind of a niche gun.

Most people have wanted gen 1/hammer packs as you can swap out the hammers for a better, crisper pull.  Having the optic is a nice feature and the LED/reticle light attached to it was originally made by a guy on the FN forums years ago, as he wanted something to illuminate the white reticle, as they become washed out when aiming at pretty much anything, sort of like the black reticle as well. Other companies jumped in on making them as well. Like others have said, the optic is pricey on it's own and can be replaced by a rail but then you need another optic but at least it won't be as bad as the black or white reticle, which to me was worthless without the light that can change the color of the reticle. I had one of each years ago but sold them due to ammo costs at the time.

I have a gen 2 now, with a rail and finding an optic for a good sight height to bore is something that you can only decide what is best. They are cool guns and recoil is pretty much nil and ammo prices are coming down. Fiocchi makes some decent 40 gr. range ammo, "Range Dynamics" and you can get it cheaper now than ever for around $65-70/box of 150 rounds. It sounds like a lot but it is cheaper/just as cheap as .38 special/box of 50 rounds. If you try to compare it to 9mm cost, nothing will compare. I have shot all different kinds of ammo through mine and it feeds/eats it without issue. Of course, FN ammo will be pricey but for plinking and having fun at the range, you can't beat the Fiocchi.
Be the change you want in this world.

It's never going to be a serious gun, but I have an aftermarket rail for it if I wanted to go red dot.

I'll buy some ammo and see if it tickles.

I can say from personal experience that removing the barrel on a Gen 1 PS90 is not easy.  Their flash hider/barrel shrouds were different than later ones.  Even after removing the blind pin (which was easy), the hider would not spin off, no matter what the force.  I ended up sawing the flash hider part of the barrel off, so I could remove the barrel shroud, and then remove the barrel.  I ended up using a CMMG barrel, although maybe one day I’ll send my original barrel off to get shortened to the correct length and threaded.  For the later ones, you just need to remove the blind pin and then you can screw the right off.

My PS90 was a Gen 1 with green stock and the white ring sight.

Aren't early Gen 1 greens the most expensive ones?   When I did some research that seemed to be the case.

I took it to the range and it was a solid "meh" but I did snag like 450 rounds in my last ammo order so we'll F with it some more.  Kinda funny that I'm like "that's plenty" and then realized that's only 9 full mags.

Took my buddy two minutes to find the white sight, lol.

To remove the barrel shroud, you're going to have to drill it anyway to remove the pin.  I bought a CMMG chrome lined barrel years ago when I SBR'd mine.  Love the look of it now.  Mine has the USSS sight.  Fun little toy, but crappy trigger.  It's really meant to be run full auto in my opinion.
