Who is the go to gunsmith these days for lever guns? Looking to have some work done like shorten and threading. But it will also need the sight moved back and the magazine tube attachment redone. I would like somone that knows what they are doing! I would rather pay extra than deal with it being messed up. I came across this guy. I sent him a email about shortening, threading, shorten mag tube and move the front sight back. He did email me back in one day and his prices were reasonable but not so cheap that I question the quality. |
| I had no idea we had a lever smith locally. I'm not exactly in the loop but I don't remember seeing them so maybe they are new. Might be worth looking on some forums that get more lever gun traffic. |

| I don't. I've seen links to Marlin Owners before. Might be worth searching around. I'd also look on Reddit as well. As much as I hate to spend time there they have quite a bit of traffic on gun stuff I just don't know who to trust so I take it all lightly. |

| I sent my 20” 1894 for a chop/thread job to Louthan gunworks. They’ve had it a few weeks and said turn around is 6-8 so I’ve still got some waiting time. His work looks good and price seemed right. I’m going to do exactly what you’re talking about (cut to 16”, thread, magazine relocate, and front sight install) I want to say it’ll be around $350. I’ll follow up after it’s done. |
