I think Del-Ton actually manufactures parts for their DTI line and others. Might be able to get them into the fabrication process. |

I doubt you (or they) could obtain a trademark on the name "Lima" or any of the other NATO phonetic alphabet names, whereas "Lima-6" would be maybe with the dash and number as part of the name. I'm no expert by any means, just a guy that reads. Its the sort of thing you'd want a lawyer for if you're going forward with it commercially. |

| I'm not sure that assembling a few kits for your buddies on a backwater Tibetan basket weaving forum counts as "commercial." Maybe as things ramp up, if production or batch quantities exceed the scope of this forum, but that seems to be almost a secondary consideration at this point. I do hope this destabilizes the current MCR stranglehold on belt fed uppers, and create competition in the niche, but layering up seems like it is closer to that point than current prototyping. |
| According to the machine shop, the upper receiver will be done tomorrow. So I'll be able to assemble the upper receiver and top cover with the rest of the gun and see what it looks like assembled. That will be an awesome milestone. |

I need to get the feed mechanism fully figured out and tested before messing with a quick change barrel. To make a version with a quick change barrrl, it would just be a change to the upper receiver. The top cover, BGC, and the rest of the internal parts are the same. Point being, you could "upgrade" to a quick change barrel by swapping the receiver. I will probably offer it both ways and allow the user to upgrade if desired down the road. |

The slot on the right of the receiver is a combination charging handle slot and ejection port. You'll notice its narrower than a standard ar15 ejection port, this is okay because it ejects out at 90 degrees rather than slighly elevated on an ar15. Edit: the charging handle is not shown in the recent pictures. |

That is looking outstanding. The one I have been working on is for 300blk. And it is more of a one off, just for me to play with. One of the problems I have been trying to figure out is how to be able to shoot varying bullet types, because there can be some significant OAL with 300blk depending on bullet. Most belt feds I have used/seen or with the M1919 I own, OAL has to be specific, or you have to use a spacer of some kind. My M1919 is in .308. If I want to shoot cast bullets I have to use a cartridge spacer I made at the front of the feed tray to keep things lines up, which also works If I want to shoot blanks. For my project I am trying to figure out if designing the feed tray so that it keeps things lined up using the cartridge rim is feasible. |

This is awesome. And personally, I much prefer to use non-qd, standard AR barrels and handguards, than QC barrels. If I get one (and hopefully I will be able to buy one) it will be used on a full auto lower and I can replace burnt out barrels for 50 bucks rather than worry about finding proprietary barrels. |

That's a great point. And the whole point of this is to make it affordable, that includes total cost of ownership and not just the initial purchase. There are plenty of belt feds out there with non removable barrels and they do just fine if you aren't dumping back-to-back belts with no cooling in between. But again, I want to offer it both ways, and allow the ability to upgrade from fixed barrel to detachable. With the detachable barrels I would love to figure out a way to use standard AR15 barrels. I think it's possible. By the way, I just had an oh-shit moment with my design. ![]() I assembled everything with the 3D printed BCG, and measured the travel. To my surprise, it was only 1/4" longer than normal travel Then I realized, when you put an AR10 buffer (~3/4" shorter) in an AR15 buffer tube with an AR15 recoil spring, the coils of the spring bottom out before the buffer hits the rear of the buffer tube. All I need to do is get a flat-wire spring and it should fix the issue. |

Attempting a QC barrel but may abandon that for fixed. Attached File Attached File Second bolt carrier. First one was a completely different design and a complete failure. Attached File |

Super cool project! |
