| What’s your thoughts on the Mac 1014? Thanks |
|
I have one and a Benelli. I polished the gas pistons, replaced the magazine spring and follower, and upgraded the shell lifter to a Taran Tactical and extended magazine tube. After those changes it runs great. Even with the upgrades its still 1/3 the price of a Benelli. |
I don't need therapy. I just need someone to rob me at the gas station so I can let it all out.
|
It works well. I think im around 500 rounds. I dont shoot it much though. I bought it to vet then pack it away for my son. There's definitely some small parts that feel cheap. But if anything breaks then just replace it with benelli parts. Attached File |

Around 350 rounds of mixed stuff, starting with high velocity buck as recommended, and the only time it has choked was with a single low brass #8 (which they tell you won't cycle but it cycled several of them). When I got it, I cleaned it, relubed it, checked the screws, swapped on the 7 round Panzer tube and spring and left the bolt locked back for probably two weeks before I could get to the property. 350 round is nothing but other than that one round it ran as fast as I could pull the trigger. No unexpected signs of wear so far. My biggest issue and one that I'm definitely going to need to address is the length of pull; I've got longish arms and even still the pistol grip stock is too long. I'm either going to put the collapsing stock on it or what I'd rather do, chop the stock and fit a Limbsaver pad to it. The other thing I hate is the retarded little bolt release- whoever the Italian engineer was who had that idea ought to be fired. They probably ought to go ahead and fire the guy who designed the lifter that grabs your thumbnail too, both are Benelli design issues that the clones copied for some reason. I haven't bothered to try the other chokes as it patterned well enough for my purposes with the rounds I was shooting including cheap RIO buck. As long as the gun continues to run, at some point I'll add an oversized release and probably a Taran safety and lifter. Verdict? Definitely not enough rounds to say but so far I have no complaints for the sale price from PSA. Thanks PSA! ETA- See also the long thread on Turknellis. |
| PSA is $430 on the version I have, I got mine on sale for, IIRC, $335? I wanted the marine version ($454 right now) but it was more expensive and I'll probably spray mine at some point anyways. Check gundeals for prices but watch for sales. I wouldn't bother with the collapsing looking style unless you just like it, the one that comes on the gun is actually fixed (think ban era "M4" stocks) and you have to order the one that collapses separately. The wood stocked versions can vary in price too or you can buy the wood separately. They also make the Tradesman version with comes with upgrades but is a lot more expensive. Panzer makes several versions as well including their Speed and Speed Pro which come with upgrades. They also get good reviews but are a bit more expensive and have a different looking trigger guard. Parts interchangeability seems to be good between all of them and real Benelli parts by most accounts. I wish the MAC had the receiver cut, but then it'd also cost more. |

Sample size of one but mine has only choked on that one low brass #8 just after I'd fired like 100 buck to break it in. It did cycle a couple of them (I had a box of random shells I was shooting just to break it in) but definitely weaker; not like you'd use them for defensive use except as an extreme last resort, but not confidence inspiring. It did cycle some high velocity birdshot including some old lead waterfowl loads. No issues with any of the buck or slugs I've shot from 2 3/4" Rio reduced recoil and regular buck to regular and reduced Remington buck and some 3" Federal and Remington. I didn't have any Flite Control on hand so can't speak to that but it's higher velocity so wouldn't expect any issues. The left side opening is one of the reasons I bought the MAC, that and it was less expensive, supposedly greater parts interchangeability with real Benelli parts and people like 03RN had reported good reliability. Again, just a sample size of one so caveat emptor. |

I have the wood stock model. I’ve had it to the range for a few low-volume outings. It functions great, and think it’s a really good-looking gun. Attached File I had to drift the front sight to its maximum travel to the left. This then allowed me to almost perfectly center the rear sight. Attached File Shooting three types of slugs. Firing distance 50 yards. Gun rested on towel on top of ammo can. Target is standard 8.5x11 copier paper. The FEDERAL “TRU-BALL” slugs shoot highest, and largest groups. Lots of elevation dispersion. The WINCHESTER slugs shoot pretty tight groups, and also fairly high among the three ammo-types tested. The REMINGTON “SLUGGER” ammo has always shot tight groups for me. Per normal with the 1014. Upgraded with full length mag tube w/Wolff spring and an aluminum trigger guard. Have more into the upgrades than in the gun! Summarizing my posts in the 64 page thread here https://www.ar15.com/forums/Armory/Benelli-M4-Clones--Any-Comparisons-or-Reviews/1-520113/ my MAC 1014 had a couple of hiccups in the first magazine and then proceeded to digest everything from slug to Federal LE OOO buck to 50-year old #6 loads my dad probably took out of his duck vest in 1976 and left in a coffee can in the garage. Whatever issues the first wave of Turkish imports had 25 years or more ago… my MAC 1014, my AP5, and Tisas 1911A1 are all excellent guns. |

My experience with a MAC and Panzer is that polishing the gas pistons helps quite a bit. I just put it in a drill and use some fine emery paper to clean up the edge of the piston that contact the gas cylinder. I think the "brake in period" is doing the same thing... |

However they are very nice. I initially just wanted the PANZER M4 SPEED for the lightened Bolt Carrier for faster cycling. I have a Panzer Tactical, MAC1014, and lastly the Panzer M4 SPEED. The SPEED is by far my favorite. Both the Panzer M4's and the MAC1014's receivers are fully Benelli M4 compatible. With only the difference is the screw taps on the top of the receiver for mounting the 1911 Optic Rail are a different thread pitch. The but stock and Mag Tube are compatible. | Seem decent enough for the money. Picked up one of the marine finish models this morning, didn’t have the black. Plan on hitting it with krylon anyway. Hopefully it’ll stick to the nickel finish. Will give a report once I get it cleaned up and put some rounds through it. |

The Benellis and clones are designed for the higher velocity defensive loads but you can get lighter springs from Taran (for gaming) and probably others if you want to run light loads and there are some buffer systems designed for heavy loads as well. I don't have any experience with any of them though. Heavy shotgun loads are going to increase wear on any gun, notice how few optics are listed as rated for shotguns, but for what they cost per shell I don't see the average person shooting a lot of the tungsten shells, at least I certainly can't. I would expect the more expensive Italian guns to hold up better but I can't recall seeing any high round count reviews on the Turkish guns. I don't consider several hundred or even a thousand rounds to be much. If someone has some reviews where the shooter has put several thousand rounds through these guns I'd be interested in seeing them- specifically what failures, if any, and what sort of wear they saw. |

I would like to know how well Krylon it adheres to it. My Panzer M4 Marine is flawless. The MAC1014 has dull sections on it, and has developed a small flake spot on the back of the receiver by the stock. I was thinking about Norrell's Molly coating it. |

I sprayed a coat of etching primer on it before rattle canning it. It did pretty good. Not gonna win any beauty contests, but should work fine. Will touch up if needed. Mounted a Vortex defender XL and ran a few boxes of shells through it without a hiccup. Fed low brass birdshot fine. Didn’t try them before shooting a mix of regular high brass, buckshot, and some old 3” turkey loads. Shooting the factory modified, TSS #2’s are wicked. Should be bad medicine for coyotes. Haven’t tried any of my other aftermarket mobil chokes yet. |
| Purchased a MAC104 and shot about 200 rounds of slug and 00 Buck. Cycled flawlessly and no hiccups. Next outing will be more slugs and Buck then bird shot. I replaced the charging handle with a Midwest Industries one and a Panzer 7 shot mag tube. Both fit perfectly and look very nice. I am very pleased with the MAC1014 as I am a former Benelli M4 owner. The handguards and stock are not as nice as the Benelli but very good clones. The only issue I had was with the Improved Cylinder choke. It looked like it was not finished properly and had what looked like deep circular grooves in the bore of the choke. I replaced it before shooting the MAC with a Benelli IC choke I had in my parts stash and all is good. I paid $449.00 out the door so I am very pleased with the purchase. |
2000 rounds and he's happy; a couple of cycling issues early on with light loads, no issues with defensive loads. I haven't taken mine out in months; it's been so hot that after doing stuff around the hunt club I only shoot two, maybe three mags worth from the carry piece and I'm ready for a hot shower and dinner. ![]() MAC1014 ($350) Turknelli 2000 Rounds Later Geissele bandana under his gun. https://geissele.com/angry-snake-bandana-black.html He has a lot of really nice builds where he drops some change and the MAC 1014 is no exception. I'd add the MAC adjustable stock, they're pretty comfortable to shoot. I have a MAC with a +2 caldwell tube and I bought the Panzer 7 Round replacement tube for the panzer. Both of mine cycled cheap walmart high brass #8s without issue, but I oiled the pistons. |

"High brass" and "Low Brass" really don't have the same meaning as it once did. What Dram loads were you using? What's the FPS on the box? I realize some MAC owners get different results, but the two I have won't run anything UNDER 1200 FPS reliably. |

I read enough reviews to take a chance on one of these (I just ordered it this morning), so I'm browsing this thread for more info. I have done the 'honing and polishing internal parts' thing with several guns, so I'll just do that with this one. I've also seen a lot of comments that they should be thoroughly cleaned and lubed when new, so I plan on doing all that. Side note - if anyone else is here and considering buying one, PSA has them on sale right now for $349. I respect the shotgun and it has its strengths within its roll. This is the reason I never sprung for the Benelli's cost. I have 3 Turknellis. 1 MAC1014 and two Panzers. Then do its break in with adequate ammo. Before doing any polishing. All of mine have been smooth function right out of the box. Most likely any polishing will just result in removing material unnecessarily. The current Innerations of these are really finished out well from the factory. Attached File |

Even if I do decide to do a match someday, I'll still not need to use a military grade shotgun for that. ![]() You are going to love it. Fair warning. They soak up a lot of that 00 recoil. So they unload 9 rounds pretty fast. |

I picked mine up from my dealer today. It looks decent. I did the disassemble, scrub, and oil everything routine tonight. By then it was getting dark and I'd already started drinking, so I didn't shoot it. First impressions: The box is funny. I told the wife I was going out to the garage to play with my new toy, and I see that it's zip-tied into the cardboard flap - just like a lot of kids' toys are. ![]() Next: they include a sling. It's probably the worst sling I've ever seen in my life. They shouldn't even bother putting that shit in the box. It's embarrassing. It has a weird, soft rubber charging handle cover, which is complete bullshit. That has to go. The instruction book is pretty good, with really decent pics and instructions on disassembly and care. It came with 3 choke tubes: one installed and 2 others in a little case with a tool. I can't find a mark on any of them indicating what they are. ![]() Overall, the gun appears to be decent quality. Yesterday I bought a case of fairly hot game load (1275fps) to shoot through it. It was a good price, and I'm hoping it's good enough to cycle reliably. I also put the gun in the safe with the bolt locked back, per some advice I found online. This week has a lot going on, and the weather can be icky this time of year. I'm hoping to be able to get to the range in the next few days to try it out. I didn't take a pic, because they all look the same. ![]() |
Of all men’s miseries the bitterest is this: to know so much and to have control over nothing.

Supposedly the rubber charging handle cover is just to keep it from poking through the box, like the little plastic table in the pizza box. Get a flashlight and look at the ends of the choke tubes again, they have little notches but they're shallow so hard to see. |
