First time I’ve completely stripped my AP5-P for cleaning and I noticed the lip on the hand guard just barely goes into the front of the reciever. A buddy has one that’s been SBR’d so the only other one I had to try was his forward grip model from HKP. By applying just a little forward pressure on the vertical grip I can rotate the lip out of the receiver. I’m assuming there’s no easy fix for this issue ?

I wouldn't worry about as long as it isn't falling off. The pin holds it on there.

My AP5-P hand guard retainer is a little cock-eye but it doesn't effect anything. I'm still able to get my suppressor on the tri-lug.

I would check my hand guard for you but I lok-tighted my front quick disconnect sling mount.

First post is correct.

With that said, I ended up replacing mine for the Magpul one and I like the fit better. Goes over the front part of the receiver and comes with its own pin. It's much more stable but does not retain the classic MP5K look.

I agree.
I much prefer the Magpul handguard.
But, based on my experience with two different guns, once you remove the Magpul handguard it never fits as tightly again.

When new, it’s such a tight fit that it’s hard to get on the gun, and hard to get off.
When I remove it then reinstall it, there’s always a little wiggle after that.

I’m wondering if an O-ring around the clip that catches on the front trunion will help?

YMMV

I've got the K version like drobs.  HG fit is not so good.  I have to tap the front of the hg to seat it and get the pin holes to line up.
