Looks like they're finally bringing the SBL 1894 out in 44 Magnum, with 357 coming in the Spring.

I’ve been eyeing one of those in 30-30 only because I have an extra 30cal can just sitting with nothing to put it on.

Now see, I just want THAT, but blue and walnut, without the rail.

Threaded, blue, pistol grip walnut, in 357.

That's all I want.

Narrator's voice: "No one did let him know."

Probably some S&W / Ruger competition for market share.  S&W has their 44 out, and in the instruction manual, they talk about a .357 and .45 Colt version as well, I suppose so they can just print and use one manual for all the rifles.

Since ruger hammer forges the barrels I’ve wondered if they ever will make octagon barrel models.
I assume there is a maximum diameter barrel their machines can produce.  If that diameter isn’t large enough diameter to be machined into an octagon then they’d need a different process which would add significantly to the cost due to the relatively low volume.
