Does anyone know what the finish on the 590 Bliksem is? Its the Rhodesian brushstroke pattern camo finish, but is it a dip finish or Ceracoat finish? It's a pretty intricate design, which makes me think it might likely be a dipped finish. Mossberg 590 Bliksem link The dip factory finishes I've seen in the past have been pretty fragile. Other than factory new, all the factory dipped finishes I've seen at gun stores & gun shows have been pretty well worn at all the high points. There always seems to be a chunk of finish missing somewhere on everything I've seen with much use. But it's been a few years and I've quit looking at dipped finishes because of the issue, so hopefully it's gotten better. I'm not looking for a safe queen. But I don't want a finish that will wear from pulling it in and out of a soft case either. I'd rather have a ceracoat single color or even will spray paint my current Shockwave, than have a finish that immediately wears off. Perhaps there are different grades of dip finish or clear coats, as there are tons of hunting guns with it. I'd love to hear it's a ceracoat. That finish seems pretty durable and might be doable in a camo pattern if the batch was large enough. I have a black 590 Shockwave that I want to do a SBS conversion on. It's already scuffed up from use, so I'm not afraid of honest wear. But I use spray paint if it's something that'll just wear off. I saw the Bliksem finished gun and thought that might be the way to go. I started thinking about the finish and how it might be problematic to warranty or repair if there is an issue with it being an NFA item in the future. |
