All factory; cleaned and lubed. Ran like a top. Zerod with slugs and then ran 1 1/8oz field loads per the break in guidance; they all cycled without issue. LE buckshot and Noble Sport 9 pellet buck also ran without issue. Federal FC, still the gold standard IMO.

So this is the factory SBS? Where did you pick it up? I've been wanting one, but they seem to be OOS everywhere.

No; 990 SPX, Form 1d. My research told me they are identical, except for the stock, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I was an early adopter- SBS'd it and added the Chisel stock. Just added the 940 forearm which is a great fit IMO.

I saw a youtube video from Shot Show with one of the Mossberg reps that said the gas port size was smaller on the factory 990 SBS as the pistol grip one has larger gas ports due to not having as firm of support when firing.

Same. I just don't believe the SBS has a different barrel, for a sub $1k shotgun.

Look great OP! I really, really like mine as well. It's eaten everything I fed it. I did run about 50 shells of buckshot through it first, but it's reliably cycled everything I had. I haven't tried any cheaper shotshells but it's been a joy to shoot.

Yeah, supposedly the SPX 12g "Firearm" fixed the gas port issue so that it could run with pistol grip or as a SBS; SBS is best.
