Check the claw carefully on the extractor. Do you happen to have a bolt disassembly tool? You are a ways away or I'd let you use mine. |

Possible causes..... Ammo. If it's new, things have changed in recent years. Known good ammo, isn't now. Dirty, rusty, fouled bolt, ejector, ejector spring. Damaged extractor, fouled extractor, extractor spring and plunger. Fouled gas cylinder, gas piston. Needs lubrication. Try a little grease on key areas. Wood binding the operating rod. Worn/damaged barrel grooves and or worn lugs on op rod. |

To add to what's been mentioned does the slide feel "loose" on the carbine? Slides do wear out and can cause issues like this, If there's alot of play in it that can cause FTE's. As to the ammo, Aquila is underpowered compared to other commercial ammo IMO. I would try another type if you can |

I'm in the Conroe, TX area. thanks! Top suspect is the extractor - so got a new one that's more polished, but came by route of multiple hand offs, and only now have in hand. Will work on install via a friend who does M1 Carbines next week. |
