Hey gang, so I grabbed my 1854 in 45-70 a while ago, grabbed a box of subsonics and proceeded to load up the tube. I got 5 rounds in and went to jack one in the chamber. The lever went straight down just as smooth as you please, and that's where it stayed. I can't for the life of me to get it to move back up even a little bit. My next thought was to just dump the mag tube hoping that might free something up. Even though I don't Think its a shell that's the culprit. The problem with that is I can't figure out how to remove the cap on the mag tube. The cap is the same Diameter as the mag tube no knurling or anything. It does have an Allen head bolt running through the center, but even if you take that out the cap seems almost pressed in and I'm not about to break out the vise grips and mar the shit out of the tube and cap. You can zoom in on the rifle in the bottom of this picture to get an idea of what I'm talking about wit the cap. Any help is appreciated!

| Is there a screw running from the bottoom of the mag tube into the barrel? You will probably have to remove it as well as the axial screw in the end of the mabazine plug. Magazine plugs are often very tight and difficult to remove but if you can get the end of the tube free from the barrel, you can remove it from the gun and watch the ammo squirt all over the room. |
