Below is a picture of my M16 setup with a Daniel Defense 11.5" upper and a KMG full auto rated suppressor. It runs like a champ and I really like the balance of the setup. However, the handguard gets extremely hot just running one 30rd magazine through it. You literally can't hold it, so I have to set it down and let it cool for a while. I looked on Daniel Defense's website, but they don't offer some sort of cover for the handguard. What I'd like is a setup that's similar to the rail covers on a SOCOM upper so that it's a bit offset from the handguard. Any suggestions on what I should use for this? |

Install rails and then you can use the KAC or P&S hand guards… I also like the Daniel Defense rail covers... But they are pricy for what they are. Attached File Attached File |

I use a lightweight Midwest hand guard with huge holes in it. I use a Magpul SVG and don't touch the hand guard. 3 mags, no problem. I also bought a small Ryobi battery fan to cool things more quickly at the range.  |

| I ran 3x30rds of IMI M193 55gr FMJ through this upper on full auto with the KGM suppressor attached, waiting about a minute between each magazine. While the suppressor and barrel assembly got incredibly hot, the MANTA wrap did its job. There was enough to grip so that I didn't touch any of the hot areas. I'm interested to see how the Magpul option compares. |
