I remove items from my F1 now and then when I sell them and did a unit a few weeks ago. Got a letter yesterday as usual but this time asking if I destroyed/reconfigured/etc. This caught me off guard as this is the first one I’ve gotten with this. Item was a pistol when it came in and a pistol when it went out. I could see this question on items I’ve built from flats where I’m 100% the mfg of the item. Thought it to be odd, wondering if they are in thoughts of peeps removing items from the list due to the new rulings. Attached File |

Based on what I've read here, once its in the nfa registry it never really leaves the registry. If its no longer in nfa configuration, you can tell them its permanently in title 1 configuration and they update the registry, but its never removed. They just note that the weapon previously in nfa configuration, is no longer in nfa configuration. I think by requesting they remove it from the registry, they are reading that as its no longer a firearm of any description and they are asking what the final disposition was. |

Been thinking about this and looked over your letter some more. I can't tell 100% but it looks like you didn't describe what the new title 1 configuration is specifically. They may be looking for specifics like 16" bbl length or stock removed and permanently back in pistol form. I still dont believe they remove it from the registry but perhaps they want some specifics about its new non nfa configuration? |

This is the first time asking about the deets. That’s including one a few months ago that is basically they stamp it and send it back. Ive used this for SBR’s and F1 cans that have been destroyed. No prior questions asked. |
