Better dead than red...........or something like that. Seeing you pics and this thread renewed my interest in the Popper. Right now I'm running a LBV (Load Bearing Vest) with a buttpack attached to the back and a Maxpedition rolly polly dump pouch on the right. Need to get a IFAK on there right now. Or just spend the money to get the POPPER setup similar to how CXS has his. Admin pouch or Aid pouch and two pistol mag pouches. Just need to wait till payday. Sell me on a freakin' POPPER guys I'm on the edge just a little shove

CXS, Did you notice the product description on the Chinese knockoff? It even has Gene' "patented" misspellings and punctuation spacing oddities. So not only are the Chinese copying products, they're copying manufacturer's descriptions, too, so as to more completely fool those who buy from HSGI.... "It has to be legit...I mean, look at the wording in the description...." :D |

Just ran a 2 day Carbine class using the "Popper" with my AK47. Worked really well with the AK mags.. I was worried about the bungees slipping off, but it was really a non-issue. With all the running around we did, not one fell out. The Horizontal bungee helps in retention also...   CXS |

So I just placed an order for a Multicam POPPER last night. Verified my order today and it was already boxed up at the front door waiting for the UPS guy to get there. Can't ask for much faster shipping than that! With the 15% off they are running until the 19th, the total, with shipping and state tax, came in just under the advertised price (according to the hold on my card; the invoice still has the unadjusted price). |

I wanted to keep the straps off my neck so I rigged this up with Bungee (shock cord). Keeps the straps crossed nice and low, which keeps them off my neck.    CXS |

Well I got my Popper two days after I ordered it (Huzzah for being local!), but didn't bother posting a review. Last night, Custom-X IMed me and asked me to post up a review, so here it is. My Popper and rifle. I had a Multicam name tape lying around so I decided to throw it on there for kicks. As you can see, there are 3 rows of webbing on either side of the mag pouches, and 4 slots on each row. The pouches themselves have 2 rows of webbing, and the shoulder straps have one row of webbing from their attachment points on the chest rig to the adjustment points on the other end.  A close-up of the affixed magazine pouches. This is my first experience with bungee retention, and so far I like what I'm seeing. I have used velcro (  ) and buckle closure ( ), and bungees blow them both away IMO. A side view of the fixed mag pouches. They ain't coming off. You can also see the quality of the stitching really well.  The dump pouch and shotshell loop panels are retractable, removable, and can be rearranged in any configuration you wish. I'm a righty, so I moved the dump pouch over to the left. I don't even own a shotgun, so I may just remove the panels altogether and set them aside.  For my fellow skinny guys, the Popper adjusts to almost any body type (I'm 5'9", 155). I haven't gotten the chance to run this in a carbine course (once I get a pistol I'll be able to; all carbine courses I've read about have transition to sidearm on the syllabus), but I'm sure that I'll be pleased with it. |

I am on the far right and am the only person running an AK. Its a Henderson Defense AK-103 Clone with standard 14mm threads with a Primary Weapons Systems FSC 47 Compensator. I am using stock Iron Sights.
If you watch you can see that I am reloading faster with my AK than all the other guys are with their Tac'd out AR15's. A lot of people say AK's are shitty weapons, the ergonomics are FUBAR'd, and are not Accurate. These people must have never used an AK. If you notice I am kind of throwing the mags forward as I release them. This was quickly noticed by the instructors and was fixed forthwith. My reloads actually got faster when I "popped & dropped" the magazines. Its all about Economy of Motion. I am not trying to start a AK47 AR15 battle, I just want to educate people on how easy an AK is to use if you try to learn the weapon. Muscle memory, Keeping the gun in your workspace, Economy of motion. "Slow is smooth; smooth is fast" this cannot be stressed enough. This approach can be applied to all firearms. Practice "DRY" reloads with your Firearm. Play with it at the house in your spare time. Get a feel for the weapon. Make everything you do with it become second nature and you should have NO problems using under "less than perfect" conditions.. Nice. Yeah I noticed the mag being tossed forward instead of dropped.
I've use this reload technique before, makes reloads smooth and get the mag out of the way quickly. The problem I've had is that when it comes to inserting the new magazine I have a problem "hooking" the mag in before rocking it back into the lock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz5LPaMhlOc That's not me just an example of what I'm talking about. I bring the mag to the trigger guard then slide it forward and hit the paddle. The mag kinda rocks forward a bit when the paddle is hit and the new mag hits it knocking it out of the mag well. I just need to get the insertion correct (that's what she said right LOL). I guess if I was going to be training for mag retention I would have to train in a different manner than the knock out technique as that just leaves the old mag laying out. |

Finally!! After almost a year of talking about an all MOLLE version of the "Popper" I give to you....
This version has some subtle upgrades. One is the addition of another row of PALS webbing across the top of the 2 outside sections, another is the addition of Side release buckles to the chest area of the shoulder straps. And as with the previous version the shot shell trays and dumper pouch can be configured into any of the three sections. CXS |

I don't think they are on SKD'swebsite.
HSGI has the original "Popper" on their website, but not the ALL MOLLE version.. I just talked with Gene, and the ALL MOLLE's are gonna be priced VERY competitively.. Give HSGI a call to find out and order.. CXS |
