They definitely work as advertised, and in case you haven't seen it there is a second generation design out now.
Gen1 has fixed but interchangeable inserts you can use to get the desired aperture size.
Gen2 has an adjustable wheel design that allows you to make aperture size adjustments on the fly.
The Gen2 also has a completely blocked setting so if you want to use that setting for storage or to cover your objective lens/lenses completely during the day that's an option as well.
One feature I like of both designs is that the flip cap portion has the ability to fold all the way back against the goggle, so it's out of the way. Cheaper caps often stop in the upright position which can easily get bumped, effecting your focus adjustment. Likewise they can block controls on the goggle depending on how you have them positioned. The Phokus Hoplite doesn't have that issue if you fold that caps back against the goggle.
It is my favorite cap style accessory. I prefer the simplicity of them over irises. But that's a user preference thing.
They are really durable yet lightweight. Great product overall.
