Can anyone recommend a paint or self-applied coating that will adhere to a Salt Bath Nitride, aka Melonite, QPQ barrel?

I don't need a perfectly smooth finish; a rattle can look fine. I just need to apply some Camo color to break up the profile of the long black tube.

There is nothing inherent to the properties of a nitride finish that wouldn't allow any type of paint to adhere.  A can of Krylon will work just fine.

This. It won't stick very well no matter what you use.

Aluma Hyde has worked well for me. Stays put on nitride barrels way better than Kylon or Rustoleum.

Had good luck with DuraCoat as well.  Helps to slightly rough up a smooth surface before application.

Most nitride barrels are cheap so they don’t blast them. You might be able to rough it up a little bit with a scuff pad to help it stick a little better, just don’t go overboard on it.
