After reading about all of the issues with the Rugged Obsidian 9, I canceled one I had on order.

I have an Obsidian 45 that I am happy with. I have shot it on a G17 with a 9mm end cap, with 147 subs, it sounded pretty quiet to me.

Is it worth it to buy a 9mm can? How much difference is there?

Not much. Like you, I have a .45 can that I use on both. Also ha e a dedicated 9mm can. Not a significant difference to my ears.

I don't think there's a truly noticeable difference if you aren't pay attention to it between my Wolfman and Obsidian 45 on the same guns with a variety of different ammo. I don't use a 9mm endcap on my Obsidian either.   I'm sure there is a difference but both comfortable to shoot with every type of 9 mm you can think of.

Metering data often shows that .45 cans on 9mm are a tad quieter at the ear, but a tad louder at the muzzle. Makes sense. Gas has to come out one end or the other.
