These things are not cheap. How do you store them? Throw them in a soft case and bag it? Hard sided foam lined case? Right on the helmet, hanging in your closet?
I just got my first set and I'm looking for ideas. Let's see your setup! |

You can stick it inside your helmet for transport inside a backpack or with a helmet bag like the Otte Gear V2 or First Spear Helmet Hut. Also stores nicely inside the safe. The First Spear NVG pouch also works well if you want to mount to your kit If you're looking for bomb proof then use a hard case. *ETA: like above, I also remove the foam to pack in more stuff. There are inexpensive cases like the Apache at HF and more expensive such as a Pelican. For longer term storage I recommend a soft case like the NVG-PPE as it won't potentially hold any moisture which could lead to issues. I've flown, hiked, and camped with nods inside the NVG-PPE, stuffed inside my helmet, and in a backpack with zero issues. It's also low key versus a hardcase (or helmet bag) and you can take it with you anywhere. |

Nods nest if I'm taking it out of the house. It's obnoxiously priced for what it is, but a clever piece of kit.
In the house my binos sit in a tiny pelican case atop the safe. |

The Tnvc pouch stuffed into the helmet works great. Then I'll put it in the drawstring bag the helmet came with, or a cheap backpack, so it doesn't look like I'm carrying thousands of dollars of things lol. |

It's also low key versus a hardcase (or helmet bag) and you can take it with you anywhere. View Quote There seems to be a theme with this thread regarding the NVG-PPE, and for good reason Fwiw, I bought mine long before working for TNVC, so I promise I'm not biased with this comment, but I've never needed to look for another nods pouch after owning it. It fits any bino in the main pouch... I've opted to put a thin layer of foam underneath the Bino (not necessary because it's already padded, just seemed like a good use for the space)... The top pouch is where I keep my thermal monocular, and it's roomy enough in that area that you can fit something like a monocular in it's own small pouch (adding redundant protection) And finally on the top exterior of the pouch there is some velcro, and that is where I have added an additional small pouch to hold admin stuff like batteries and whatever else (Carl has been faithfully guarding my batteries for years now)... And of course as others have shown, all that fits nicely inside your helmet. You can clip your chin strap over it to secure it. As far as hard cases go, they definitely have their place, and even cheap ones will protect your device more than soft pouches. I've had one friend get in bad car accident while his device was laying on his passenger seat (not inside any case at all) with helmet, and the impact from the crash blemmed his image tubes pretty bad, and I can't remember what housing it was but that was also slightly damaged. Another edge I would give to most full size hard cases, is the ability to lock the lid down with a padlock and then run a steel cable through the handle and anchor it to one of your seat bases inside of a vehicle. This is usually enough to prevent the quick smash and grabs that we sometimes hear about when people leave gear in their car to go in to a restaurant or gas station. I think a hard case is ideal when traveling, and it's nice to be able to toss it in your vehicle and not worry about it getting crushed etc... But I find myself using the TNVC NVG-PPE 99% of the time and have never had an issue. If I need to leave my vehicle it's small and low profile enough to take in to a store or restaurant with me so at least I'm not leaving my most valuable possessions inside my vehicle. The quality of the TNVC pouch is top notch, and I don't baby it. No rips or broken zippers. It's seen a few years of hard use with no signs of significant wear. |

For helmet and nods - otte gear bag
https://shop.opticsplanet.com/armasight-helmet-bag.html For small, tactical tailor padded nvg pouch - typically ~20 on ebay. Fits a mono and some small binos The $12 harbor freight pluck foam or a pelican 1150 is aways a solid option, too. It all depends on usage. My binos mostly get hard cases for long term, but during usage its in the car with me in the otte bag. The tnvc pouch also looks nice, especially if you dont need the helmet covered. |

I ordered a NVG-PPE and a hard case. Should be good to go. I'd love to get the helmet bag too but that will likely have to wait.
I'm hoping more folks post their setups and give othes ideas. |

USGI PVS14 pouch (Tactical Tailor I think?) tucked inside the helmet with chin straps through the molle straps so it won't fall out.

I like it, but a nods garage or that TNVC pouch tucked inside a helmet will serve just as well and is ultimately, lower profile. |

Mine are usually mounted on a helmet, hanging on a 'Helmet Hanger' on the closet wall. When traveling, I have that way overpriced AXL thing.

Bridged 14s in a TNVC padded case, stored inside the helmet. The helmet is stored in a First Spear Helmet Hut, along with spare batteries, lens cloth, sacrificial lenses, chem lights, Crye Skull Cap and other goodies and hung on a heavy duty hanger in the office. That way I can grab that one bag if I need NV and have everything I'd want. Also have a Pelican 1200 set up to carry the tubes, but it doesn't see much use.

toss em in a ski goggle soft pouch and sometimes use a hazard freight apache case for the tubes/batteries if traveling. helmet, i don’t care about.
i never got super fancy or bought pricier protection stuff even tho it wouldn’t be a bad idea for a >10k toy & thermal. |

Okayyyyy. Lol.
Actually I'm not sure what to say that the photos don't show. The main compartment has a nice big space for the helmet, with some elastic storage on each side. The back of the compartment (bottom of bag when stood up) has organization for your gear which you can rearrange by moving the velcro pads. It's pretty simple. The front has that zippered pouch along the top, and is about as deep as the velcro goes. I put paper stuff in there, button style batteries, allen keys, etc. Oh and it has a single strap from the center of the top to either bottom corner, for carrying like a cool kid. Aaaaand it looks like it's not on their site any more. Was going to put a link here. Attached File |
