Pretty sure it is too, but I'm not familiar enough with USMC gear to comment reliably.

On my JPC and it fits/feels great. I use it with a Source 1L kangaroo pouch.

hey all, I've followed this thread quite a bit.

So far I have had the Pig Brig but ended up selling it due to lack of features for a chest carrier / other things. Had a mayflower apc, but found it way to big for my 10x12 plates and backers. Now I currently have been running a LBX slick plae carrier (LBT knockoff) Yeah it's not LBT but it worked for me. However after about a year with that I am looking for something with rear molle webbing and a few better options.

Y'all suggest anything that is small, high riding, fits 10x12 curver shooter ceramic with backers and has molle / chest rig compatibility?

So far I've been looking at the old JPC

Intended Use:
Range / Tac classes. General looking like a douche with my douche friends.

Loadout:

Chest rig (3 AR mags, 2 pistol mags, ifak)
Hydration rear
nothing on sides.

Belt carries everything else.

Yeah I ordered my single ar-mag 10speed from bravo also....are the pistol ones the 'camo green' from SKD or actual ranger green? How long ago did you get them?

What's on the back of your JPC? A hydration pouch or pack? I see a zipper and drag handle?

The SKD mag pouch Is a perfect match to the ranger green on the JPC as you can see the one I ordered from bravo is darker. I have a tactical tailor removable operators pack on the back that holds my source 2L bladder. I also have a crye GP pouch that holds just the 2 L bladder when I don't need anything else besides hydration. It's much more low pro then the TT pack.

The new tan rucks they issue have a concave frame that allow it to ride comfortably over a bladder system, most packs that are made with he air channels fit right over your camelback. A few guys on my advisor team used MysteryRanch packs that have padded panels that keep the pack slightly off your back.

Yes 5811 is a reference to my MOS, nobody likes us, big surprise. As far as unit ruck events - once a quarter since MHG has a boner for that type of thing, personally I hike quite frequently with my family, recent surgery has laid me up. I don't know the brand name on the new packs they issue, but either way no matter how it was designed to ride on your gear it works great over a camelback. Either that or I have been extremely lucky.

First Spears new VEP works great over a hydration camelback. I posted pics of mine on the previous page.

Dude that is not a ruck. That's almost too small to even be an assault pack.

Also, unless you've been humping it around since your post where you said you hadn't used it, "works great" is hard to quantify outside of aesthetics.

Okay, fair enough, I suppose the use of  'most' is not the best word to insert here, I guess maybe 'few' would have been better, but most packs I have carried worked out really well. Write it off as air-channels or frame design to not ride directly on your plates, most packs I've had to use worked out very well.

I have a condor defender and ar500 plates including sides. I like your load out can you plz list your pouches. Also I'm 5'6" and snugged tight it seems like my front plate is a little low as it comes to right about center of my pectoral,is this normal or do I need to find a smaller carrier? Also should I ditch the steel sides and go soft and if so which?

Your fully loaded 20 or so? Mine is 27.5 just plates so this is a no go. Lmk what to do,this is emergency /defensive carbine course so please tell me the best lightest rifle threat I can go or some suggestions to lighten this rig a lot. Also do you just put a plate in there or anything else? Ahh I c I need to go soft level 3a and keep the plates for shtf some people talk about.
Link Posted: 6/8/2015 1:19:41 PM EST
[#37]
You need to decide what you want, chances are your condor plate carrier is not holding the plates correctly or your using the wrong size armor. If your gonna run something just for defense try some something small and slick (JPC) or if you want to load it up (LET 6094 or Mayflower APC) now each of those carriers are sized for plates. Usually in small, medium, or large SAPI's. 10x12s should also work in anything sized for medium plates.

Also you seem confused by soft and rifle plates. Soft armor while flexible and easy to put on will only stop pistol rounds. For rifle protection you need hard plates. They come in level 3 and level 4 protection. It's up to you to decide what rifle threat concerns you most, level 3 weigh less but also stop less. The other kind of plates are ICW (in conjunction with) which require soft armor behind you hard plates to give you full protection.

I'll be the first to admit yes I'm confused but a little web time and I have a better understanding. I really like the mag pouch a few pics up. Also took the top straps a little tighter than normal and it's good now.

2 high com plates at 7.2 lbs, carrier is around 2.5l lbs, 3 mags at a pound a pop, plus an IFAK and a TK. I'd say 25 is a safe estimate. I haven't weighed it by itself, and our scale at the station may be off.

Some people have cut a pool noodle in half and then half again and used it. Others have just gotten closed cell foam and tapped it to the top of the plate.

My JPC is 17.6lbs with no mags...figure 1lb (~15oz) per mag times four that's 21.6lbs loaded. If I added pistol mags maybe another ~2lbs but I normally keep those on a belt.

Banshee. I made myself a DIY internal pad setup today. I stuck some Velcro on the back of the plate bags and added an arrangement of some Team Wendy ZAP ACH pads I had. Not ideal, but it was an experiment. One of the shortcomings of the Banshee is lack of air flow, so I tried out something to see how it goes. I think I'll make a more permanent Velcro attachment point and pick up some SKD PIG Pontoons. I'd like to pad the cummerbund as well. I might use Crye AVS pads for that, but I don't know if they stick to regular hook or loop.

Carrier is set up for a moderate SHTF load. I used to want to carry 6 mags, but ammo is heavy and speed is life. I've since opted for 4, carrying more in my bag. I'm just toying around here.

Good start. Most carriers are not padded, and, as long as one is using multi-curve plates, it's not an issue. I can wear my un-padded carrier all day without discomfort. Also, airflow's not going to matter when the shirt you are wearing is loose enough to block any channels.

I'd get a proper retention device for your TQ. Rubber bands dry out quickly with age and UV exposure. I have a BFG Tourniquet Now! on my carrier and Tactical Tailor TQ pouch on my belt. Even shock cord and a keeper would be a better option. A pouch shields the TQ from UV exposure and some dirt and grime, too.
