Shellback banshee with level IV multi hits. Some marine issued (iirc) dual mag pouches, running front 3 as singles. battle belt with more of the pouches on the sides. I got the belt from a marsoc buddy. Almost got it to where i like it. I 550 corded a camelback to the back for hydration

Got a new PC. Warrior Assault Systems DCS.
It's much more comfortable and distributes weight better than my mayflower I was running, now I'm just waiting on my mag pouches to get here.
It's a one size PC, but fits my high com 10x12 plates well.

i gotta ask. i see a lot of people with assault packs attached to their carriers. I have to ask, isn't this heavy? Granted I use steel plates, but after I put my Level IV front and rear and side plates into my carrier, I can't imagine throwing a pack onto that as well for a class. Perhaps one of you can shed some light on this?

Yup, but if you need the stuff, you're going to have the weight.  On top of my rig I have a camelbak motherload I run. I want to be able to drop my pack. It's heavy, and it sucks jumping it, but if I need the stuff in it I gotta carry it.

Ill preface this with the fact I've never worn a PC to any civilian run tactical course. So Idk how often you're doffing your gear. But IMO, I have no clue how this doesn't bug the crap out of people. I see a lot of people do it, then when were out on ranges or in the field it's pretty comical watching them constantly asking their friends if they can grab something out of it so they don't have to take the whole plate carrier off. I figure the most you need is maybe a hydration pouch, or a small pouch and some banger pouches if your the first dude in the stack for your buddy.

Is your radio in your pack?

I always wonder how it is having a radio at the front of a PC. I see it often, but doesn't the antennae get in the way since it sticks up right by your arm/armpit?

I just keep the end of the PTT stuffed in there so its not dangling freely when not connected. The PRC's batteries are all charged in our work buildings. When you're in your hooch with no real need for one. Just grab one before you head out and do you checks.

I'm not sure where it got off to, but I usually have this little elastic molle pouch were issued. I want to say it had a TCI logo on it. Its a little kit that relocates your antennae to your back (or wherever you want it). Just work the connector cord through your shoulder strap or under your armpit and boom no antenna up in my pit or smacking me in the face when look left. Hope that explains it.

I've never worn a PC to a class, but I have an eagle map pack attached to one carrier.  The only things I put in it are water, food, nods and spare socks.  If you constantly need to get into your pack you are too needy or packed your gear poorly.  My map pack weighs maybe 15-18 pounds max.  100oz bladder and a spare nalgene is about 8 pounds and half of the weight.  Nods, socks and couple MRE's or such are pretty light.  With 2 100oz bladders I have to rearrange the other items or drop them.

I see some guys with huge packs attached, don't know what they put in them, but some look cumbersome, I agree.

Thank you! Yes it did. I can see not having your radio on you until you go out. I used to work at campus police, and we had our radios charging all the time and don't grab one till we're checking in for shift. Of course, I always had my favorite one.

And is this what you were referring to?

Yep that's it. They work wonders if running dual comms. Having two antennas running directly up your shoulder next to your face doesn't really work. Plus it doesn't really take up much space relocating it.

So I finally sold my old LPAC, and picked up a Velocity Systems Scarab Light, but I can't find a lot of info on it.

Bought it on impulse due to an awesome price, and want to know if I picked up a good one.

Closer to 35lbs with side plates. I find its not so much the weight, but the sharp pain I get in my traps after extended use. And that's with enhanced, padded shoulder pads/straps.

Love that vest, maybe my next purchase but my eagle is working for now.

You don't plan on doing any low crawling do ya? Does it feel extra heavy in the front with the added pouches in front of the mags?

I was interested in it as well. Sent LA Police Gear a message and received this response:

The fit is extremely comfortable. Just the right amount of padding. The only thing I would ask for is an elastic inner cummerbund. To help keep the pc from bouncing while running. Also, getting rid of the huge stupid magazine pouch in the front would help because regular 5.56 mags bounce around in there. I also feel as though the hook and loop on the cummerbund is of poor quality.

I would still like to hear from anyone as well who has run it for awhile.

I saw that on the LAPG site as well and it mirrors my initial impressions from the pictures and watching the video.
They also don't do a good job of showing how the plates are secured within the vest, but from what little I can glean from the photos, I have concerns there as well.

I have a Banshee plate carrier that I bought a couple of years ago and it's been pretty sturdy, but I'm not a fan of the shoulder adjustment.  I've had to adjust it all the way up to get the plates to hang in the proper position.
That's what interested me in the Vanguard, you can order the correct size vest to fit your torso.

Can someone help me choose the right size plate carrier?

I've got Highcom 4SAs7 10x12 multi curves, shooters cut.  I want to put them in a Crye JPC but am not sure if I need the medium or large.

Thanks.

Work in progress. Putting together a more practical IFAK now that I am out. The only thing "missing" is my IFAK and a pouch for my PVS 14 when not in use. Possibly a small admin pouch for extra batteries.

I have a banshee. For the price ($89 when I bought it) it is beyond a great buy. That said, if I were buying for full price I would spend a few bucks more for something with a mesh padded inside.

Thanks for this.  Banshee multicam on the way.  I ordered that and a set of Banshee shoulder pads for $130 delivered.
Hell, at that price, I'll like it just fine.  I'm guessing the shoulder pads will let it ride a little higher, too.

They'll fit in either AFAIK, very snug in the medium and less snug in the large.

I like your bladders. Looks like maybe a 1 liter and a 12 liter?

Your scull crusher has transcended crushing and has gone straight in to scull squishing. That doesn't look too comfortable.

SKD is the obvious choice. But also bulletproofme sells soft armor for the pig cummerbund. I think it's on their website, but if not, drop them an email and they'll hook you up. I actually got mine from bulletproofme because SKD was out of stock at the time I was looking.

Update: Added a Tactical Tailor Low Vis double pistol mag pouch and a pair of Velocity Systems slip on shoulder pads to my Covert plate carrier.

Can someone recommend me some plate carrier options?

I'd like a Crye cpc but that's a little out of my price range in all honesty. I'm not interested in the Skd one. I'll pay up to maybe $400.

I'm 6'4" 230. Looking for something comfortable and g2g.

I've considered the hsgi mpc and the lbt modular plate carrier. I just have no experience with them and don't want to buy it to return it due to fit. Anyone have any experience with these two or recommend others?

ThAnks in advance
