i gotta ask. i see a lot of people with assault packs attached to their carriers. I have to ask, isn't this heavy? Granted I use steel plates, but after I put my Level IV front and rear and side plates into my carrier, I can't imagine throwing a pack onto that as well for a class. Perhaps one of you can shed some light on this?

Yup, but if you need the stuff, you're going to have the weight. On top of my rig I have a camelbak motherload I run. I want to be able to drop my pack. It's heavy, and it sucks jumping it, but if I need the stuff in it I gotta carry it.

But IMO, I have no clue how this doesn't bug the crap out of people. I see a lot of people do it, then when were out on ranges or in the field it's pretty comical watching them constantly asking their friends if they can grab something out of it so they don't have to take the whole plate carrier off. I figure the most you need is maybe a hydration pouch, or a small pouch and some banger pouches if your the first dude in the stack for your buddy. |

The only things I put in it are water, food, nods and spare socks. If you constantly need to get into your pack you are too needy or packed your gear poorly. My map pack weighs maybe 15-18 pounds max. 100oz bladder and a spare nalgene is about 8 pounds and half of the weight. Nods, socks and couple MRE's or such are pretty light. With 2 100oz bladders I have to rearrange the other items or drop them. I see some guys with huge packs attached, don't know what they put in them, but some look cumbersome, I agree. |

Bought it on impulse due to an awesome price, and want to know if I picked up a good one. |

I was interested in it as well. Sent LA Police Gear a message and received this response:
The fit is extremely comfortable. Just the right amount of padding. The only thing I would ask for is an elastic inner cummerbund. To help keep the pc from bouncing while running. Also, getting rid of the huge stupid magazine pouch in the front would help because regular 5.56 mags bounce around in there. I also feel as though the hook and loop on the cummerbund is of poor quality. I would still like to hear from anyone as well who has run it for awhile. |

View Quote I saw that on the LAPG site as well and it mirrors my initial impressions from the pictures and watching the video. They also don't do a good job of showing how the plates are secured within the vest, but from what little I can glean from the photos, I have concerns there as well. I have a Banshee plate carrier that I bought a couple of years ago and it's been pretty sturdy, but I'm not a fan of the shoulder adjustment. I've had to adjust it all the way up to get the plates to hang in the proper position. That's what interested me in the Vanguard, you can order the correct size vest to fit your torso. |

Can someone recommend me some plate carrier options?
I'd like a Crye cpc but that's a little out of my price range in all honesty. I'm not interested in the Skd one. I'll pay up to maybe $400. I'm 6'4" 230. Looking for something comfortable and g2g. I've considered the hsgi mpc and the lbt modular plate carrier. I just have no experience with them and don't want to buy it to return it due to fit. Anyone have any experience with these two or recommend others? ThAnks in advance |
