congrats.

however this thread, like the title suggests, is dedicated to pictures of gear. this isnt a gear in action thread. youre welcome to start one though.

ETA: Its almost exactly how theres an "AR in action" thread, and an "AR picture" thread.

actually, its EXACTLY like that.

Did know that.

And you are in Italy now ?  You "Zoomies" have all the fun.

P.S. It is now "Team Ranstad"...  Seems the Army doesn't want "Militia" attached to Nick's name. And yes, I'm serious. Could you please change your sigline to reflect this ?

Good eye indeed. Yes, that is a US training grenade. Pic is taken in Spain. In the Congo there are RGD5s all the way.

Somebody's got to bomb the Quadaffi loyalists.

I tried to get a picture of the Italians when they were in full gear, but I was yelled at by a large Italian MP...

I rarely see them on eBay when I look, and I have never seen one for $40.  I will have to take another look.

DIY GoPro chest mount. It gives a really First-Person-Shooter perspective.

That would be ideal, but i think it would require mounting it on your face.

Here are some picks with it on the chest mount:

I set up this mount more for outdoor activities (hiking, climbing, caving, etc) because the helmet mount gives a really tall perspective and you can't see what your hands are doing. However, the helmet mount works well for shooting, and I think the chest mount will give an interesting perspective, too. I'll post videos as soon as I do some shooting with it.

Those helmet (in this case chest) mounted cameras, while set as video, are a great tool for debriefings. Nevertheless to remember to turn them on when you are 'going hot' can be hard. Thinking to much about it may get you killed. Also one have o be aware that is one more thing to get entangled with rifle slings, vegetation and so on.

Cheers,

Wamba

The good thing about this camera is that it can be left on and recording for an extended period of time (provided you have a change of SD cards). As for getting entangled, while on the helmet it poses no more of a risk than having NODs. On the chest, it poses no more risk than all the other garbage on you your chest but I can see a sling having some possible issues. Either way, I intend to use it as a training aid and will not be wearing it in combat (I have other cameras for that ).

EDIT first page own ever:

Yep it's a SERPA drop leg platform. I took my old ATS suspenders and some ITW hardware I had laying around and basically set it up like an "X-harness" chest rig. I have a mount coming in the mail for the camera that will replace the bungee retention and provide a more stable quick release option.

I took the helmet/NVG mount hiking on Saturday and got some pretty impressive results. Pretty powerful little camera. Unfortunately, it's going to be another weekend without shooting, this training schedule is killing me...

Cool !  I just got a GoPro also, for my B-day a few weeks ago.   Mostly for racing the dirtbike, but I was pondering gun mounts too....or, I'm a right-hander, so maybe a mount right around my right ear....so as to get as close to line-of-sight as possible ??  Still experimenting.

Looking forward to seeing your vids

Here is the latest iteration of my full PIG load out.  I am liking the PIG Kangaroo pockets so far, but it does make the setup a bit bulky in the waist.  I may swap out the DD TACOs for some REG TACOs I have lying around and put the Glock mags somewhere else or on the belt.  THis set up can carry 6 M4 mags, 2 pistol mags, comms, hydration, admin etc...

I think I will leave the pig this way and use the Banshee for my KISS setup.

SKD PIG with PIG dyneema soft armor and MED plates
DD TACOs
PIG Kangaroo pouches
OSOE NSW Admin
ESSTAC toaster double M4
BFG Trauma Kit Now!
TYR GP
TAG radio
TRY hydration
VIPIR strobe

Shellback COBRA belt
HSGI SKD drop leg
Safariland G19 holster
Eclipse mag/tool pouch

You'd think an ITS plank owner would have gone the ITS Mod route on a Mid ride But then you'd have this ugly black thing...
Safariland really needs to release a 6075 in FDE

I have seen that done, but personally prefer this setup.  The SKD model rides high and it very secure.  As far as black goes, that is what they make Aervoe/Krylon for.

I used that same Condor carrier in Afghanistan with the issued soft armor, ESAPI's and side plates and it fit just fine. You can adjust the fit and how the plates ride inside ya know.

Looks like a holster. Seems like an odd place/way to have one, or at least not orthodox.
Or maybe it is idk.
