Tim- Copy on the heat. 121 the other day in Iraq.  4-5L is very reasonable, I was just suprised to see canteens. I've ditched all but one of mine, for use with the mask. Nalgene for mixing Gatorade, and CamelBaks for everything else. I see you deal HSGI stuff. Have you ever used their hydration carrier with two bladders in it? |

heres my cheap ass, works for me, line 2 gear. german Lbe set with add'd on usgi canteen pouch   total of 6 g3 mags 100 rnds more in bandoliers canteen ,cup multi tool poncho 2 days of food 1st aid kit stove and fuel h20 purifing tabs and filters led leights mora knife ect ect blah blah works so far.... and heres my uberfancytacticaly rigged 762x51 chest rig for my FR8  yup..... i like my cheap gear..

Now that you got me thinking on the whole topic Slimhazy, I think I might look into the Nalgene bottle. My girlfriend who is in college told me that everyone in there wears livestrong bracelets and carries a Nalgene bottle, I was kinda turned off by the whole thing :D. Like I said, when I got out in 01, I had an A2 and an LBE so much has changed in 4 - 5 years in the service, and it seems for the better! - Gazukull |

Here are some pics I posted in LF's Stud Board: Eagle Industries made Lightfighter RAID assault pack in Crye Precision Multicam. I wanted to see how far I would go with it… No, I will not be carrying it in this configuration. Just wanted to share some pics of an UberRAID. Here is the rundown: Eagle Industries made Lightfighter RAID pack in Crye Multicam Codura Eagle Industries A-III Frame Sheet  (On right side, as worn) EssTac Large GP EssTac Packrat EssTac Mini Med Vertical  (On left side, as worn) EssTac Large GP EssTac Mini Med Horizontal EssTac Single Mag Built Lid  (On the back panel, as worn) Emdom Large Utili-Shingle Stackable Emdom SAF Admin Panel HSGI Strobe  Kifaru Claymore (on the bottom) And last, but not least… A custom made pouch for this RAID. It is a cross between an Emdom Wide Load and a AITES Medical/GP/Ord pouch. I took features I liked from each and combined them. If you look closely, you will notice it is only seven PALS channels wide to perfectly fit the lid of the RAID. As many of you liked the AITES and Emdom, you would love this one. It was built for me by Jon at Reccegear.        Patches by Life, Liberty, Etc., Camotech, Supply Captain, and Mr. Chan. |

and yet, ironically you might actually get more use out of your econo-gear than some people get out of their $$$ Guccie gear... I'll admittedly include myself in that group for now. The most my Marauder has done to date is make my storage room look badass.

A GI LBV is a good piece of kit. Never saw one fail while I was in. Not to mention, my ass was using an LBE up until like 4-5 months ago. Now that I am a dirty / nasty civilian I can afford the Guccie gear :D. - Gazukull |

It is funny, I did try on/try out a Hellcat but found it just didn't work for me- just felt wierd having all them pouches either on my chest or stomach (although if I had to ride armed in a vehicle I can see their use). I have an Ex-USMC friend who gave me some advice and recommended and LBV as he had very good luck with it (As he said: "There may be fancier, better gear, but in five years of field work my LBV never failed me and always got the job done. I would rather have less fancy gear that I can trust 100%"), which I have set up as basically an "abandon the home forever" setup. The LBV kicks ass for load carrying, but it is really warm, and it sometimes feels like strapping on an overcoat worth of gear to me. I finally ended up spending $20 on some H suspenders, a web belt, and some basic pouches and feel that it gets the job done the best with the least amount of hassle (which IMHO is what good gear should do). I can steal the camelback from my LBV and have a quick, lightweight setup. If I need, I can grab my uber-tactical Jansport backpack which has never failed me in 10 years (loaded with 50+ pounds of crap in college, laways was comfortable) and head out the door forever with enough to survive. Sorry, guess it is more of a description than gear porn. I'll try and get some pics up. |

Not unique, but here's mine anyways: - Point Blank FSBE AAV QR with Level IIIa soft armor - 2 BHI Triple M4/M16 mag pouches (total of 12 mags) - 2 BHI double pistol mag pouches - TT MOLLE hydration carrier - TT radio pouch - TT Large Utility pouch - Maxpedition roly-poly dump pouch - TT first-aid pouch I also have a first line rig which consists of an HSGI drop-leg mag carrier. It can carry upto 6 30rd mags as well as 4 pistol mags and a harness for a knife scabbard. Tony |

No TAG actually. Tactical Tailor radio pouch and shotgun shell panel. Blackhawk admin, double pistol mag, and triple M4 mag pouch. No particular reason why I picked these pouches other than they do what I need and were available when I needed them. |
