Hey everyone, I see that there’s some legacy NT4’s that are at dealers. I also recently discovered that there is an updated version, the PRG NT4. I know the legacy NT4 has been around for a long time, and isn’t new tech. It’s obviously a good looking can and I get the attraction towards them. Objectively speaking, is the PRG version an upgrade? I see that it’s a bit cheaper than the legacy model. I’m assuming it’s because it’s cheaper to produce. I’m mainly wondering if the PRG NT4 has less or equal POI shift vs the legacy model. And is it just as durable? I know the original is considered to be very durable. In other words, apart from not being clone correct, what does the new PRG NT4 lack that the legacy NT4 has? I think the original looks better. |
| I believe the big difference is the amount of backpressure the two put into the gas system. Depending on what you're putting it on you may need the backpressure to make the system work. If you don't, the less gas blowing back in and back at you the better. I'm sure those more knowledgeable can chime in if you say what setup you're looking to put this on. |

Totally different can. Other than the name and the gate latch mechanism there's nothing similar. One is made out of "traditional" conventional supressor manufacturing processes and the other is a 3d printed core. They share nothing in common inside the tube. PRT is a flow through technology if you will that allows more gasses to rapidly pas through the silencer thus not creating excessive gas pressure and forcing the bolt to unlock earlier than it should, resulting in the commonly referred to line of "gas to the face". The PRT is a superior can in every way, unless your a cloner. Plenty of info out there on it they have been out for coming up on two years soon. |

Thanks I’m putting this on either an 11.5” FBI (0.069 gas port) or 12.5” Centurion LW (0.064 gas port) barreled upper. |

If you're a 'collector' and buy things for looks/cool factor, only you can decide what the O.G. can is worth to you. I'm a function over form guy, and can't imagine choosing the non-flow through variant. I don't care what it looks like, I just want it to fit the role I need it to at a price point that makes it worth while. I picked up a new 7.62 recently and it's better in every way. If I recall jack said the new cans are just as durable, if not moreso, than the old ones. And at 1k dollars, I don't mind that I may shoot one out some day. |

And as far as durability goes, the NT4-PRG is even more durable than the legacy NT4. Removing the need for a lot of weld spots helps significantly in the time and cost needed to produce. |

What is the db sound difference between the two? |
