I bought the $80 knockoff wheeler sight pusher on Amazon. Tool seems very well made and I thought this was going to be an easy job. Boy was I wrong. What does Springfield use to install their sights? A 20 ton press? I’ve never encountered sights so tight. I eventually got them out and the new ones in but it was not an easy task. The slide serrations on the echelon make getting a good purchase on it sketchy at best. So moving forward, should I decide to tackle Springfield sights again, what tips are there for making it even just 30% easier. |

Take it to a gunsmith... ....and be prepared to wait. This seems to be a recurring theme going all the way back to the beginning with the XD, and maybe HS2000. I bought a sight pusher with custom made blocks to fit the slide. But that was after the gunsmith milled off my original sight. Since then i can change them just fine My buddy would be happy to swap his sights for mine on our XDMs. But I don't want to bad enough. (I have FO and he has a standard blade.) I told him it would be easier to swap slides. I clicked to see if the echelon was any better. |

This style will make your life 1000% easier. It has an angled side and a flat side depending on the sight. Just put some painters tape on the back of the slide and sides. Sight pusher |
