I skimmed the thread, what about use on rifle cans, is that worthwhile and okay to use on them?

My turn.
The insides are so filthy I wasn't able to properly screw the base back on. Back tomorrow Attached File |

No it ain't...
Did a little jiggling and a little reworking....The can was So Filthy that much is still coated with grime that I put it back in the solution. The entire jar of solution is nearly opaque. I give the jar a jiggle every few hours and It's going to stay in the jar until Friday. |

Assuming it’s Cerakote, any signs of damage to the finish?

Here is an interesting story about DMSO possibly killing a woman. Use thick latex gloves with this stuff.

Kept forgetting to say how well it worked.
Oh, so Very Well! There were some clumps that came off with mild scraping with a bronze brush. (It was THAT filthy) But, OH! What a difference it made. If only it didn't cost so much. |

I recall about (I hate to even say this) about 40 - 50 years ago 60 Minutes did a segment on DMSO. I don't recall their conclusion, not that I would trust them anyway, but it was used as a cure for knees, arthritis, and sore muscles on horses (Ivermectin anyone?) and people used it as well. It was hard for Dr's to test in a placebo setting as it caused a garlic taste in users. Harmful? I have no idea, but it is used in transdermal patches as it easily penetrates biological membranes (per Google) and carries the meds. I have no idea what else is in the solution, but knowing all the above, it would be a good assumption that used cleaner could take whatever's in your suppressor (lead) and get into your bloodstream. Does the package have any warnings?
Yup, March and July of 1980, that'll make you feel old. Just google 60 Minutes and DMSO. I'm certain there's more, and more recent stuff out there. I about 2 years ago OSS put out a video where they soaked one of their can in a cleaner solution and then just shot the gunk out. In slo-mo they showed an impressive amount of grey colored spooge coming out with each shot, this might be an alternative for those with 'unserviceable' cans. |

Getting ready to re-order more of the Super Juice.
I keep thinking of directly ordering the DMSO directly instead of Breakthrough. Ordering DMSO itself seems rather....Interesting to say the least. Pastes of DMSO |

Ok, soaked for a couple of hours...
Except for the rear of the Bolt, it is nicely clean. As this is where most of the crud is built up I'll keep it in for a few more hours. I usually use steel wool here. Attached File |

I finally tried some today. From a previous thread, I have a plastic tube from Mini M&Ms (1.77 oz) that is just large enough to place the baffles in. This helps limit excess solution being used.
After soaking the baffles from a Griffin Checkmate for about 3 hours, the solution was totally black and most of the Carbon just washed off in the sink. Very impressed with the results. |

Just peeked
I think I'll keep it in of a day or two |

Finally took it out.
The bolt still needed some steel wool to finish everything. And a pair of pipe cleaner to take care of the insides. BUT it looks almost as clean as when I first bought it: Attached File |

Just purchased these tubes to use in cleaning my suppressors and thought someone else might find them handy.

That isn't a problem because the silicone stoppers seal at the front cap and holds the cleaner in the suppressors. |

Are the stoppers part of the kit?

Has anyone tried this stuff on a barrel that's been leaded by shooting unjacketed bullets?

My Gemtech Oasis integral 10-22 barrel is sealed. I've had this for 20 years and is much louder then when I bought it. Decided to soak the suppressor end of the barrel in the solution. Started the soak yesterday, I will let you all know how it turns out.
I will say, this stuff worked great on my two sealed 22 cans. I had stopped using them because both cans caused the bullets to keyhole without any signs of contact with baffles or endcap . Also because of how loud they had become. Two weeks in the solution had them sounding like new and no more keyholing. |

Ordered 32oz. Going to do my super neglected Sparrow SS, TIRant 9s, and Osprey 9.
The Sparrow will be interesting to do a before and after sound comparison and weight check. |

I use the cleaner in conjunction with a ultrasonic tank. So it's black after each use. Then I pour the dirty cleaner back in the bottle. After a few days, the solids will settle to the bottom leaving most of the fluid almost clear and ready to reuse. Cleaning suppressors is a dirty nasty business.
