I bought and installed a purpose-made 7.62 cal A2 style flash suppressor on my Gunsite Scout rifle. Unlike the bored-out faux 7.62 flash suppressors made from 5.56 flash suppressors, the purpose-made 7.62 cal A2 flash suppressor has a longer body, and also longer slots. The 7.62 flash suppressor has to deal with a larger volume of gasses, so it makes sense that the 7.62 flash suppressor would be larger than its' 5.56 little brother. Ruger has made a number of .30 cal muzzle devices over the years, some no longer available. Suggest caution when comparing them to each other. This rather dated .308 Muzzle Device Test is the best test I know of; perhaps it's been updated. Should be useful in any event as the basic physics haven't changed. |
