Anyone been hands-on with the new SCAR 17 yet? Are they more accurate than their legacy counter parts? I’ve heard the barrel profile is heavier to try and prevent stringing of groups but haven’t seen it confirmed. So whats the word? |

Haven’t really shot for groups, and the only “decent” 7.62x51 I’ve got is some Win M118R (it’ll probably be fine with standared 308 too but, why bother)…but I can tell you, I get a lot less POI shift with the gen2 with a Sandman-X than I did with the Gen1 and a Sandman-L. How much of it is the can and how much of it was barrel deflection, don’t know, but it’s an appreciable difference. When I get a chance later this summer I’ll go for groups but I think the biggest limiting factor is there isn’t a whole lot of precision 7.62x51 ball out there? |

Federal gold metal match is typically a safe bet. That 1:12 barrel should love the 168gr FGMM. 168gr FGMM 175gr FGMM |

The original ones were already pretty accurate for what they are. Just seen one local for $3400 a couple weeks ago and decided my gen 1 is good enough for now. Were the original 16's accurate? I'm debating slimming down the safe but using the funds on a 16 but don't know if I should go OG or new. |
