I've a SIG 516 sitting in safe I've decided to make into a medium range nighttime coyote getter.  I intend to replace the stock muzzle device with a SiCo ASR muzzle break so i can move my Omega suppressor over to it when I'm hunting at night.  Does anyone know how the original muzzle device is affixed?  Just threaded on?  Locktite?  Rockset?

thanks for any insight

My Sig P516 muzzle device was just threaded on.  Easy to remove, I replaced with a Sig suppressor flash hider to mount mine.

Mine was just a regular A2 flash hider installed with grease and a crush washer.

My 716 had a tapered barrel and flash hider. Do the 5.56 versions not do that too?

Mine was awfully tight, but it was purely the taper holding onto the flash hider. A little more oompf and it spun right off.

Good gouge--thanks all

I'll clamp barrel in vice and first just try firm persuasion with my AR wrench

if that doesn't seem to be working I'll go with the heat gun--after applying a little angle juice

if that doesn't work i guess I'll go to boiling water in the unlikely chance SIG used rockset

appreciate the input.

NOTE - if your barrel has a taper, you'll need one of these to get a conventional hider to mount properly. (need a square shoulder to align a QD for a can - or a direct thread for that matter)
