I wasn't expecting to Daewoo K2s to be on the menu. I didn't even know I might want one of these.![]() The Amazing Daewoo K Rifles ARE BACK! | SHOT Show 2025 Since 1981, S&T Motiv Co. (formerly known as Daewoo Precision Industries) has been the premiere Korean firearms manufacturer. Now, the company has rebranded as SNT Motiv and established a Las Vegas headquarters for U.S. manufacturing with plans to offer made-in-America versions of several rifles and pistols to U.S. consumers in 2025. https://www.guns.com/news/2025/01/17/korean-manufacturer-rebrands-snt-motiv |

One guy at the booth told me $1500, and five minutes later a different guy told me $1200. The fact that two different guys at the same booth said two different prices means they have not set a price, or rather, they have not made units yet to figure out the actual manufacturing cost. There is no way they are going to hit a $1200 price point, I think $1500+ is more likely. Regardless, it is basically the same old Daewoo K2, which is great, I love those guns! The only change is the selector is a bit more AR-15 like in profile and has a standard AR-16 90 degree Safe to Fire setup, unlike the older 180 degree sweep of the imported K2s and DR200's The guy who said $1500 said they will start with the K2 to test the market, and if it goes well they will look at doing K1A1's. They also had a 9mm version on display (a more updated version of the K7, or rather a 9mm K1A1, from what I could tell) Sven Manticore Arms |

I thought I was done with more 5.56 rifles, but I'll snag one or two variants of these. Buddy had a Woo in college as it was cheaper than a Colt, it was one of the first 5.56 guns I shot. Loved it, he still has it too. |

Based on the videos I watches, they will bring out original style classic versions and the updated models being used by Korean armed forces. Let’s hope and pray they pull through. |

I wanted one of these back in the day, but never moved on the idea back then. I am very tempted by this, and would be throwing money at them right now if it was chambered in .308. |

The problem with the Pindads is that the "importers" probably didn't actually fully commit or have any skin in the game. Look up Terratek and ZSGA's address - all you will find is a nondescript office in some business park and a single family home. West Coast Armory (which they named as a partner in this venture) denied knowing of any arrangements with them when some arfcommers asked. Terratek has not answered inquiries. https://www.guns.com/news/2024/01/29/license-made-fnc-bm-59-and-pm12-headed-to-us-from-pindad-of-indonesia And yet the press release from guns.com claims there's a $20M deal. I don't think any money or product has exchanged hands. Meanwhile, ZSGA USA of Bothell has contracted with Pindad to import firearms and ammunition totaling over $20.1 million. They are welcome to prove me wrong. Also, the ATF and the rumored ban on 5.56/7.62 pistols with certain barrel lengths (which is false) has little to do with it. Pindad makes 9mm PCCs, they also make an 8" FNC (Pindad SS5) which they could have brought in, as well as the BM59 in a sporter format. |

That's the only 5.56 rifle besides the XCR series that interests me at all. If the price is right and spare parts easily available, my wallet won't like me.

When I asked at SHOT Show, ST Motiv told me they have a facility in Las Vegas that is gearing up for the Daewoo rifles, and they are starting with the K2 to test the market. They did not want to dive all in until they had the process worked out and knew there was actually a market for the firearms (yes, everyone says they want one, but they actually need people to be buying them to make it a profitable venture) How big that facility is I don't know, it could be just a single office right now, but they seemed to have what I would consider a reasonable business plan in place to make it happen. As to if that pans out and/or if the U.S. government allows that to happen who knows, but it seems a little more realistic than what Pindad was pitching (which is a shame as I would love an FNC!). Fingers crossed! Sven Manticore Arms |

Sven Manticore Arms Making them here would follow the IWI model and maybe be easier with regulations, etc..I just don't know why anyone would go through the hassle and cost of going to SHOT without already having an idea about the market and sales expectations. Hope they pull it off and hire some of the original roof Koreans for their ad campaign. Hey, and thanks for the Tavor stuff that I bought from you guys years ago BTW! I appreciate Manticore taking care of us in the offbeat gun community. |

I suspect it is Tarriff calculation related, the investment has to be weighed against profitability. For my medical device company currently we have some possible products from Korea we would like to import but the profitability is less attractive with tariffs subject to change. We are looking at importing and assembly but again the sum of tarriffs and OEM technology limitations in the US destroy the possibility, so we are on hold until Korea tarriffs are 100% solidified. I am hopeful either way Deawoo clones may return with the consideration there is a ton of existing AR15 manufacturing in the US to assist a US-based assembly with Korean US hybrid. |

FWIW, here is a quote from a post on the AK Files thread dated July 1st... "a guy from the Facebook daewoo group called them this past week, SNT Motiv said everything was going smoothly and that they should be on the market end of '25 or early '26. FFL and LLC established." |
