Anyone own a S&W FPC .22lr for good amount of time that can give some feed back? I am considering one. I see a lot of pros like compactness, accuracy, and and reliability. Mainly want it due to the folding feature so I be discreet when heading to the range. Also looks cool and I’m sure my little ones will love that. What are the cons or things that bugs you about it? |

It's an interesting, light, folding 22 carbine. It got M&P grip backstraps. It's as accurate as the trigger allows. Unfortunately, length of pull is fixed at 14" so it's not a kids gun. IDK why S&W didn't make it with adjustable LOP, there's plenty of empty space in the back. Smaller adults struggle with LOP. The forward"handstop" 1/8" plastic nub is useless and in the way, filed it off immediately and stuck a normal Mlok handstop on. So far it's run 40g MiniMags flawlessly. LOP Pic Attached File |

Bought one and didn’t even think about the non adjustable LOP part. Fits fine for me and my kids. After taking it apart I am pleasantly surprised to find how well built the bolt was. The bolt, extractor, firing pin, recoil springs can be easily taken apart without tools for easy cleaning. This has got to be one of the most robust .22 bolt design I have seen, and I own a custom built AR22, Ruger 10/22, and an Sig 522. My 10/22 takedown is a little lighter, but this thing balances like a bull up. I can shoulder it one handed for a long time without it feeling front heavy. Not bad for $500. On the outside it’s all plastic, but internally it seems to be built to last a very long time. Threw on a cheap Holosun 403R red dot I had sitting around. I will be taking it to the range this weekend to sight it in. |

Put the calipers on FPC22 tube and it measures 1.390" OD so none of the AR stocks will fit. Another odd choice by S&W. There's a "storage tube" inside the main tube with 5" wasted space, so no reason S&W couldn't have omitted the storage tube and given users 5" of buttstock travel. Carbine is 30 5/8" long unfolded so even working with minimum ATF OAL it could have an adjustable butt. My best guess is they'll release a Gen2 with adjustable stock if sales are OK, otherwise maybe FPC22 will just disappear as an oddity that didn't sell. Attached File |
