So my issues is this: I was out doing a Travis Haley 22422 drill with my 10” scar, mag goes dry so I drop it load another and hit bolt release, bolt goes forward but bolt does not go into battery (see image below). I remove the magazine but cannot get the bolt to eject the round, ended up giving it a soft mortar and the round comes out, put it back in the mag and it loads just fine in the gun. This happened several times in 270 rounds that I shot. My observations: After my shooting session I cleaned the gun and observed what I thought where scratches in the chamber so I put some 0000 steel wool on a wooden dowel then in the drill and polished the chamber, cleaned the barrel and gun and it worked much better but still happens 1/10 times. My other guess is it’s the hook at the end of the nrch carrier, the spring that holds it up is possibly to stiff breve ting it from going into battery now and then Seems I cannot attach a photo |
| Happens with my NRCH gun too. As I understand it, FN has stated that when the NRCH is in the rearward position, you should sling shot the charging handle to close the bolt. When the bolt is rearward and the charging handle is forward (like any typical reload), it's okay to hit the bolt release. As you pointed out, the stiff spring/hook on the forward edge of the NRCH caddie is what causes this additional drag/friction that necessitates this nuance. Pretty lame IMO. As I understand your question though, you are experiencing this during a reload when the charging handle should be forward, so no drag from the hook should be experienced. Kind of disappointing that the whole system seems to be designed with no margin, just on the hairy edge of functionality. |
