I found a knife I really like the Tops Steel Eagle 105D. I'm a big serrations guy. Learned that in .mil really fast. The knife at TopsKnives.com is $285 + $20 if you want serrations. There is another major retailer selling the same stock knife for $159 without the serrations or the option to put them on. So the big question is; how hard is it or worth the time to send it out for them to get done? I am not into knives, but they are 100% needed in a kit. Just looking to update the Tops knife I already have. |

I would be slightly hesitent for local sharpening services that just sharpen "cheap" stainless kichen knives and barber scissors. I would hate to screw up the differentely heat-treated edge. REK Knives offers a serration sharpening service that is probably pretty standard: Adding serrations to a plain edge knife This is the one mod that I’m continuing to offer. Prices are $30/inch w/ a $75 min per edge base fee. You could buy the cheaper fixed blade and ask TOPS how much they would charge to add serrations. How much of the blade are you looking at to add serrations? Mad Dog knives from a decade plus ago offered their knives with the last couple inchest of the tipe of the blade being serrated vice near the handle. That always made the most sense to me from a practical standpoint. ROCK6 |
