I just recently picked up a 590a1, which I love by the way! The stock has a rear sling stud, but I'm looking for a wrap-around-the-stock type sling I've seen them, but not sure what brand they are. I would use with a Magpul forward sling amount for a shotgun. Any other slick setups or recommendations should be aware of? Thanks in advance! Attached File |

I have used a VTAC fixed stock sling adapter for an application like yours. Midway link Then a VTAC or BFG two point sling. I would add a GG&G sling loop that goes between the mag tube cap and barrel so the sling won't twist up on you. GG&G sling mount |

Are you thinking of the Blue Force Gear slings? That style was really common in the early Iraq war when you still saw a lot of M16A2 fixed stocks. They work well once you get them set up and used to them; looks like they're on sale at the moment too. The Magpul forward mount works well too but it's surprisingly heavy for what it is (not sure what I was expecting since it says it's steel  ) and don't like using the various metal sling clips on my slings since they rattle against the barrel and mag tube. JMHO and I swapped to a paracord loop on my 500. I've gotten away from quick releases on the couple of guns I consider "working guns" but still use quick releases on the others so I can swap slings around and not have to buy more; it saves money but also keeps me from accidentally pulling guns out of the safe when the slings get tangled up and caught on stuff. Note that there are different versions of the Magpul forward sling mount for the A1 heavy barrel and the regular barrels and 870 barrels. https://www.spectergear.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=188 |

I always move it on all my 590s with a bayonet lug.

Well, I ended up going with a BFG Hunting sling. It's simple, quality, and will give me a way to carry my shotgun on my shoulder if I ever need to. Attached File |
