I don’t feel like making it an SBR right now, maybe in the future since this is a keeper for me. But I’d like to hear y’all’s suggestion for a decent foldable brace. I’m looking at the A3 but it’s pricey, 408 before shipping and tax.
Input is appreciated, Thanks

I don't know where you got 408. I got an A3 folding brace for my Stribog on GAFS for like $150 or so.

Honestly you could get the newer version of the Sig folding buffer tube and get an AR brace.

The A3 is very light though, but the cheek weld is crap unless you get the cheek riser.

I do have a strike industries collapsing brace sitting in my parts bins and it's cool looking, but not very comfortable.

The 408 was from the A3 website after building it. I currently have the SBA4 on a folding tube but it doesn’t lay flat.

It isn't high speed, but I actually don't mind the SB Tactical FS1913A (aluminum) brace. It's an option.

Edited to correct a typo and add a link

I never liked the sb tactical folding braces.. the 2 I had came loose and swung closed while firing, there’s quite a few vids on YouTube about it.. maybe the fixed them
By now, and the plastic brace had way to much flex in it for me…

I went with the Midwest industries side folding strut with a tailhook mod1c.. catch them with deals and can have the set for around $230 ish, I like them, has a wide cheek rest, looks good, folds and locks super strong, qd sling sockets

Picked my MI up with a promo for like $113 from optics plannet and primary arms has them around the same price, but they save12 promo code

You can also go for the sig side folding factory brace, with a tail hook adapter… I have one posted in the ee, lol swapped it after i bought the MI, pm me if you want some pics lol

I don't know if it is the best, but the A3 brace is ok.

I totally understand the desire for different (better) braces; like I said, the 1913A brace is pretty basic.  I've heard of them folding while shooting, but I haven't experienced that. I have used the two that I have -- one on an MPX 9mm and one on a Rattler 300 BLK -- pretty extensively without any issues.  You may be correct that newer ones resolve earlier problems.  I also agree that the polymer type has too much flex. I returned the one that I tried and would not recommend them.

Yea the poly one flexed to much for me, just assume spend the extra $20 for the aluminum one… but yea I think they changed the spring in the folding mech. That tightened it up.. I had the early ones a few years ago

How comfortable is that brace? I was looking at the A3 with a Tailhook mod 1 brace, but those look to have become unicorns recently….

I was using it with a straight section and I rather liked the feel, but the LOP was longer.

I switched to the shorter offset section and I like the fit better, but it is not as comfortable.

Here is an old pic from when I was using the straight section on a SBR.

As an SBR stock, it was longer than the sig folding/collapsing stock.  With the brace hook it was similar length.  I prefer the braces to be shorter, so I recently changed to the shorter offset section.
