Found out the stretcher I keep at the range went to crap. It's an old skewl one and the canvas dry rotted.
Was finishing a FOF team event with a private group and was ending it with a 500 yard stretcher carry/slow jog. We ended up piling armor and misc. stuff on the stretcher to get it done, but definitely not the same as using live body. I know I have one of the newer folding ones somewhere.. but would like to replace this one either way. What would you all recommend? Any surplus recommendations? |

A Stokes Basket/Litter has no canvas to rot and can be left in the elements with much less care. It will get ratty over time but will outlast canvas.
D ETA The least expensive one I am finding is about 300 clams. Every ship in the fleet has several so surplus might be an option. |

You could probably find new canvas for it pretty cheap.
Or use a stokes basket or mega mover |

Or use a stokes basket or mega mover I'm actually thinking I will get some heavy rachet straps and reinforce the poles with those, maybe every six-eight inches or so, then cover with a poncho. The rachet straps are rated to 2000 lbs. each and a friend has a ton of them from his business I can use for free. Hell it should be stronger than the previous... And 'back in the day' we carried people in improvised poncho stretchers with nothing and those held up well. |
