Best Millimeter Stribog | Grand Power | Shot Show 2024

I am getting pretty excited for these.  I've been lusting over the SMG45 for a while now, but could never justify the price of one, especially given the issues they have had.  I think the Stribog will scratch that itch.

I've never owned or even shot a Stribog, but reading reviews of the 9mm versions, they seem like pretty good guns.  Do most people order these directly from Global Ordnance, or is it better to go through a different distributor?

Also, I've read about getting a different roller (40 degree) for shooting suppressed.  Does anyone know if the same roller work in the 10mm/.45 guns, or will it be caliber specific?

As far as UMP mags go, where are some good places to get them?

I had planned to upgrade from the SP9A1 to the SP9A3G. Now I’m going to keep the SP9A1 and buy the SP45A3. I really like that they lengthened the hand guard, and the UMP magazine is a welcome improvement.

It's good that they realize they make a fantastic gun - but can't seem to make a good magazine. Glad they went with a proven mag.

The 9MM Stribogs run 100% with a lower that takes Scorpion mags. The OEM mags are the guns only shortcoming.

As for the roller block - not sure. For 9MM you can get 45 (standard for US models), 40, and 35 degree. I'm using the 40 degree in mine and it shoots incredibly soft. Far softer than any direct blowback or B&T with their hydraulic buffer system. Kind of curious to try the 35 degree, but not having any issues at all with the 40 so don't want to push my luck.

Bought my 9mm from gun zone deals. They were the cheapest out of everyone.

Global does have a nice industry discount though if you work in the industry.

Weird. I can purchase the 10mm version but they won't ship the .22 version to Oregon....

Nice.  Thanks!

I use them in my Omega UMP-clone without issue as well.

Knowing the Stribog 45 uses UMP mags has very much increased my interest in it since I’m already setup for those.

Any word yet on when these might be hitting the shelves?

In the next 30 days, or more like "before the end of 2024"?

There was a poster on Reddit who said end of April.  Also, the price is now $1450 for the braced model and $1300 for t he neutered version.  I'm still interested, but my enthusiasm is lessening by the week.

Wow.   Thanks for that info.  $1300 is right up there.

Perhaps I need to rethink.   Could just wait for the LC Charger 45 -- those will probably be around $1k or less after the initial rush, and they'll take cheap and easy-to-find G21 mags.

I have one.  Is non-concentric with 3 different mounts and suppressors.   Have contacted customer service.

The rest of it seems pretty awesome, it's tight, smooth.   The plastic box it comes in even has metal hinges.   There are obvious efforts made for quality.     The .578x28 thread pitch is a necessity on pistol barrels, but they have enough meat on the barrel that I wish they would have just done 5/8x24 with a shoulder (if they could).

The push button mag release is a little hard if you use your pointer finger, but great if you use your thumb, but the little paddle release is great and not too big to snag.

Factory UMP mags fit.

Haven't shot it yet, stuff fell through, kinda bummed about the non-alignment with the suppressor issue, and that's the whole reason I bought it.

Yea definitely, main reason to get one is an affordable .45 ACP PCC to suppress.  If the threads are off then no reason to buy.  Never heard any issues before with threads being non concentric on a Stribog?  I hope my 10mm is not off, that would suck.

Global Ordnance sent me a shipping label before I completed my second cup of coffee this morning.    That's pretty awesome.

As far as non-conentric, it does happen, and has happened with some of the best brands out there.  It's only an issue if 1:  you don't check your alignment before you pop, and 2: if it isn't resolved.

I have a few .45 cans and really excited to use the DA Primal on this, because it's a great sounding can with lots of volume, just heavier.

I picked up a Stribog SP45A3 from GunZoneDeals and got it out to the range today.  I shot 275 rounds of 230gr FMJ (Blazer Brass and S&B) and 10 rounds of Lawman bonded JHP (RA45B).  I mounted a SB tactical folding brace and a Vortex Spitfire 1x prism optic on the gun before hitting the range.  Suppressor used (for just a few rounds) was a Gemtech GM45 direct threaded onto the barrel.  Magazines used were 20 rounders that came with the gun (3) , and 3x HK and 4x clone 25 rounders.

Random notes:

1. The shoulder behind the threads for mounting a suppressor seem to me to be small...I wish the barrel were heavier/thicker to have a bigger shoulder to mate with the back of the suppressor.  As it was I wasn't sure how hard to tighten my Gemtech down.
2. The gun ran flawlessly EXCEPT for 4x FTF using the factory 20 round magazines.  All FTF were using 230gr FMJ, not JHP.  I had two magazines that had 2 FTF each...the round came out/up and too high of an angle and smacked into the top rear of the chamber jamming the gun.  No issues with the HK or clone 25 rounders.
3. The ambi safety level is too long IMHO.  When getting a high grip on the gun your strong hand will touch the safety level when in the 'fire' position (pointing straight down).
4. I had to do some work on the SB folding brace to get it to go on/come off without requiring a hammer and foul language.  Not wanting to modify the gun I used a dremel to remove a tiny bit of material from both sides of the slot on the brace adapter and all was good.
5. Trigger is not bad but not good.  Would love to see a non-binary replacement for not too much $$$.
6. A mag loader is a must unless there is some secret to hand loading the mags.  I bought a clone (not HK) that seemed to work well.

Overall I am very pleased with the gun I just need to keep on eye on the factory 20 round magazines to see if they give me issues the next time I take this gun to the range.

.578x28 goes against the muzzle not the shoulder of the threading, seems to be the standard due to width of 1911 barrels.   Thank you for review, looking forwards to blasting mine.!

Thanks for that info, I was not aware of that fact about .578x28 threads.  A few more notes that I could not fit into my original (2000 character) post:

1. Ejection seemed weak, some brass did not make it off the bench.  I had ZERO extraction or ejection failures.
2. Thread protector on muzzle will come loose under fire I had to hand tighten it back up every few mags.

(I asked this in a different thread, but this may be a better place)

Are there internal lockwork/trigger differences between 9mm/45acp/10mm Stribog versions?

Supposedly (?) all three take the same end cap/brace mount, and from photos, the chassis looks externally identical (other than handguard length) but I haven't been able to do a close comparison to truly determine that.

I cannot speak to the trigger differences as I only have an SP45A3.

Before I purchased This SBT Folding Brace I emailed Global Ordnance asking if it would fit the 45 and was told "All SP9A1 & SP9A3 braces and stocks will fit on the SP10A3 and SP45A3."

$45 is for the 3rd party reproduction mag, and $95 is for the genuine HK mag?

Check the sale link a few posts above -- genuine HK UMP mags $177 for 3 mags -- or about $59 each plus ship.  <-- That sale just ended.   Still a 'decent' price at $207/3, but not AS good.  :(

I always thought the Stribog was ugly as all hell and a POS at that.
I know they fixed a lot of the issues but I just didn't get it. The Evo seemed so much better.
That being said this is the first version I'm actually excited about and would consider. I still like 9mm more than 45. But there's a ton of 9mm PCCs out there. Only 2-3 in 45.

It does feel that way, doesn't it? In reality we have more than 3:

1. Ruger LC 45 (carbine length only at present - but it's quite compact)
2. TNW Aero Survival
3. Extar (they seem to put it on the market and then withdraw every 3 years - some kind of production schedule, I presume)
4. CMMG both Descent and Banshee/Resolute
5. Kriss Vector
6. HiPoint 4595TS
7. LWRC SMG-45
8. B&T APC45 PRO
9. JRC
10. Kahr Thompson M1
11. Bear Creak

Macon make a conversion set, but no lower.

Of course, the 9mm options far outnumber the .45 options. But we still have a bunch, even with the attrition of Masterpiece, Flint River, Cx4, etc.

Are the HK mags worth the difference in price?

3 HK Mags shipped + tax = $77.80 per mag

3 HKP US Mags shipped + tax = $55.61 per mag

Are they really worth the extra for $22.19 per mag for use in the Stribog SP45A3?  Please let me know as I might want to get some while they are on sale.

Just picked up my SP45A3 today.   Haven't had a chance to fire it yet, but did notice something curious:

The factory 20 round magazines supplied with the weapon lock in well, but they feel very loose with regards to left-to-right play.

However, the genuine HK UMP 25 round mags (bought separately) fit perfectly, with almost zero left-to-right play.

Given that, I won't be buying any additional Stribog 45 factory mags, but only HK mags.   I probably will try the HK Parts mags and see how they fit.

I would be interested in hearing what experience others have had.

Saw a video on you tube where they testing an SP45A3. The results were not good. Multiple failures with the supplied mags. They said the HK mags worked "better" whatever that means. Was interested but not now.
