I look to be inheriting another m1 garand & m1a from my dad. Both are base models, nothing special. I have a thought to bastardize both for supressor use because, why not? I know there is concern with pressure on the oprod, but I figure maybe a flow through would work well? Sound suppression isn’t a deal breaker, I just want to take the edge off. Budget is $750ish. Ideas? Concerns? Insults? |
I put this one together from parts; all Winchester to match the receiver, save the stock, handguards, and the Garand Gear ported gas plug.

I have an M1A that I run suppressed with a Nomad L and a Scythe Ti. Both work about the same. I am very happy with the results. A Shuster Adjustable Gas Block has been a nice tuning aid for me. I can tame the gun down to just where I want it and keep the operating rod happy. As I understand it, they are no longer available, and due to family issues will probably not be again. Perhaps you can find one with a lot of searching, or you can just take a handful of standard gas blocks and drill them out until you are tuned the way you want it to be. |
