I'm thinking of getting a KAC CRS-3 to go with a KS-1 and KS-4. If you have hands on experience with the CRS-3, what do you think of this paring? From what I can see from the TBAC 2025 Silencer Summit, the CRS-3 is in the middle-to-lower end of the pack. But if I'm being honest, I like the KAC's aesthetics and muzzle device ecosystem, so pure performance isn't the only factor here. So what does everyone think? Is the CRS-3 worth considering, or is the performance delta of the current top dogs just too much to overlook? (I posted this in the main silencer subforum, but got no traction, so I'm posting here as well. Perhaps there might be some selection bias!) |

It does better on sound than an RC4 (based on manufacturer-published data) and the 5.56 CRS models basically delete all flash. Considering the entire shooting experience and how suppressors impact it (gas blowback, sound, flash, durability, etc.), it would seem to me like one of the best duty/combat-grade suppressors currently on the market. Can you get suppressors that sound better for less? Sure. If you're in the market for a high-end, high-use can then the CRS-3 seems like a very strong candidate. If literally the only thing you care about is sound, the CRS-3 does perform well, but you'd probably be better off with a $500 high back-pressure can at that point. |

A lot of these more mainstream tests only look at a few select factors when evaluating a suppressor. These are fantastic tests and I love the data. However, what is being asked of suppressors today is far beyond just sound reduction from most end-user levels. You also have to select your criteria of what you look for in a suppressor. We tell people all the time in the shop, there is not one just hands down best suppressor because everyone has different use cases. - Sound - Weight - Size - Profile - Attachment Method - Gas reduction to the shooter - Bolt velocity - POI/POA Shift - Life expectancy - F/A Rated - Company Background - FH Optimization - Weapon Optimization All that being said the CRS-3 is a great option. Just remember, the CRS-3 needs a KAC 3-Prong QDC to work with it as it interfaces with the inside of the suppressor. |
| I had a chance to put about 100 rounds through a CRS3 on a KS4 indoors. It performed as advertised--nothing amazing but not disappointing either. Unfortunately I have nothing to compare it to. My half-baked first impression is that if you want a KAC suppressor to got with your KAC rifle, go for it, but otherwise there are probably better options for the money. |
