Griffin armament can which one would you choose. Taper or utility mount with the explorr line. Is it worth the extra money. I understand the utility option is for other mounting devices but this will be my first can. Go taper and buy extra muzzle device with money saved. Should i be looking into the future for other mounting options. Thanks again

UTILITY!! The versatility that you have with HUB compatibility will make you smile, down the road. I LOVE my Explorr30 utility. It comes with a Plan A and a brake, if you want to stay Griffin...so.. you get the best of both worlds..

The Taper mount. Griffin has built a great ecosystem around it.

No reason not to love GA taper.  If it was a more iffy company who doesn't support products for the long run I would say HUB.  GA also supports more thread patterns than anyone else.

You'll save weight and a failure point with the fixed mounting system.

I put one on a .308, if my can ever gets approved it’ll get use.

I would go taper.  I can't think of anything I would remove the Plan A in favor of, so it might as well be integral.

I personally went with a taper mount because I use GA mounts on everything and I wanted the lightest can possible, however if I wanted the can to mount flush with a rail or something, I’d get the utility mount and run a Plan A adapter.

For example, the utility mount version would be nearly flush with this PWS 11.8” barrel and factory rail which is an appearance that some prefer.  But like Green0 mentioned, it will add weight to achieve the same goal of mounting the suppressor.

Here’s my HUB converted Mini-4 with Plan A and Griffin mount sitting flush:

Well i pulled the trigger on a taper mount. Next week fill out my eforms, got my electronic fingerprints, downloaded docusign and then put it in jail. Hopefully its quick to go through. Oh i am getting anxious already. Payback to the deer who mowed down my garden this year lol. Thanks to all who gave input.

I like the look of the Plan A long adaptor the most (and the thought of future flexibility) but the weight savings of built in are very appealing.

I have all of my cans and rifles set up to run Griffin taper mounts, but I still went with the utility mount Explorr. After spending good money having my Sig SRD cans converted to HUB because they stopped supporting the mounting system, I’m not interested in built in mounting systems. I look at HUB as future proofing in the case a mfr stops supporting a particular mounting system.

How much does the conversion to hub cost?

Well eform 4 took 2 days now waiting on form 4473 from Capital armory to go through and i should be a pround father of my first can. I could have done things quicker but no computer working out of town especially with the atf site. Everything else could have done on my phone even though they say not to lol.

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm in the same boat. Which muzzle devices are you using on the tapered barrels? With SIG's taper cap or without? Any concentricity problems? Thanks.
