So shooting my new Tavor 7 suppressed today. Was getting a blast of hot gas out the hole in the dust cover. Why is that hole there? Nice mark, I'm sure I wasn't inhaling anything bad for me. /s Just glad it didn't start my beard on fire.

But they didn't show anything as back ordered. Package should be here by Monday, so I'll let you know. |

I have a Tavor 7 that I plan on suppressing soon. If I encounter the same gas in the face problem, I think I will just tack weld that hole closed. I would not want to lose the simplicity of changing the ejection by installing a semi permanent port cover. If I didn’t have the option to actually weld, I would just use JB Weld to seal up the hole. |

Part of the reason I asked the question was I wanted to know what the hole was for, could I just plug it up with something? Like I said earlier I tried putting some tape over it, but the blast of the gas was enough to blow the tape into my beard. Changing the ejection takes a few minutes and disassembling the gun anyways. Adding 2 screws to the process isn't a big deal for me (I guess it's actually 4 screws if you move the Manticore plate to the other side). I doubt I will ever convert it to left hand use anyways. |

But I can already tell I won't get a hot jet of gas in my beard. Maybe some gas will leak around, but, it won't be much. I was surprised how heavy it felt. I think most of the weight was in the steel locking nuts. |

You know what, you’re right I read that part wrong in the manual. That’s my bad on that one. All I can think of without having that information I thought was with the manual told me, would be that those holes are pilot holes for indexing the plate for when it’s stamped out of the sheet metal plate during manufacturing. |
