It's going go be interesting to see who's doing what. Not that it really matters, all the stuff they sell seems to be pretty good. Now if they came out with a 10mm I'd be all over it. |

Last time I saw a semi auto caliber lever action, the conversion price was more than that rifle is selling for, and you still needed to buy the base rifle. Plus I don't have a 73 action yet. Or a threaded lever. This is very bad news for my budget. |

Good on Taylor for doing an American made 1873, I think I would have preferred .357 to 9mm though. |

Also wanting to know who makes this. Also want to know why only 10 rounds? “Tuned”? Does that mean short stroked? Looks like street price should be less than 2100 as their other guns are about 150-300 cheaper than their website MSRP. Fingers crossed. I want a non-threaded 20” octagonal barreled one with a crescent or flat STEEL buttplate. I’d pay $2k for that for sure if made in the USA. This would be the first 1873, arguably the most American rifle ever, made in the USA in about 100 years. There’s a reason they’re not showing the fugly rubber buttplate in their promos. Had to search everywhere to find what the buttplate looked like. |
|
My best guess is there is a "magazine reduction rod" installed from the factory. A Chiappa 1892 I bought used years ago had one. It's easy enough to remove. Hopefully that's all it is. Part #122 https://www.vtigunparts.com/store/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=95&cat=Armi+Sport+1892+Rifle |

The website updated to include a picture with the rubber buttpad. And the more I think about it, 10 rounds for an 18" barrel (that looks closer to 16") sounds about right for 9mm; my 1894 holds fewer .38 Special with a 16". |

The tube looks like it belongs under a 16" barrel. They had to leave clearance for a can with the threaded barrel. I emailed them over the weekend and just received the response. "There is no limiter rod. 10 rounds are what fit comfortably in the magazine tube and also California has a 10 round limit so it is CA compliant". Not gonna argue with them about CA law but there it is. |

I can't wait for this POS drug using fuck your best friends wife Newscum to leave CA office. Originally Posted By Javak: I like to see them picking up where USFA left off, old factory and everything. I read somewhere where someone at the NRAAM indicated these would be sold starting July 11. Anyone heard anything different? I'll be home from a foreign rotation, but have to orbit back outbound a couple days after July 11, and it'll be a bit before I can get back; was hoping to buy one of these this year |

| I would be very surprised if there wasn't a way to get more than 10 in there, '10' is pretty convenient considering CA laws; maybe too convenient. I like the looks of the gun but to me the front half and the back half don't match. The forearm is nice and thin and the stock looks too large. Lastly, it would look MUCH better with a thread-in end cap on the tune to bring it even with the barrel when not running a suppressor. |

Tube fed spritzer bullets are a guaranteed disaster and FMJ 9mm would have the rounds loaded projectile tip to primer. Also, I wonder if moving away from a rimmed cartridge means modifying the feed mechanism. |

You are right about the most of their catalog being Uberti. With that 9mm, they decided to get into the business of making guns. Expect massive delays on bringing it to market. Why they chose the 9mm? Seems like a niche market, doesn't it? My guess is, they didn't want to damage their existing business, and they saw no good way to sell 2 identical guns, one Italian and one American, the latter one being 4 times more expensive. Or, they could have an agreement with Uberti that stipulates that they cannot compete head-on, in which case making a 9mm gun is a loophole. But that's only a guess, I don't have an insider info. |

Not gonna argue with them about CA law but there it is. There's no need to argue but a little education for that person, in their customer interface job, might help. I highlighted (bold) the text showing the exemption for tubular magazines on lever action firearms. Perhaps, you could forward this to them so they don't make this mistake again. They are professionals, right? The following is taken directly from one of the publications on the California Dept of Justice web site. Link to document on California Dept of Justice web site Large Capacity Magazine Restrictions and Exemptions (Penal Code Section 12020) A large capacity magazine is defined as “any ammunition feeding device with a capacity to accept more than 10 rounds but shall not be construed to include a feeding device that is permanently altered so that it cannot ac- commodate more than 10 rounds nor shall it include any .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device (or, effec- tive January 1, 2002, a tubular magazine contained in a lever-action firearm).” It is important to understand that a large capacity feeding device may be detachable or fixed, and includes any tube ammunition feeding device (other than .22 caliber or, effective January 1, 2002, a tubular magazine contained in a lever-action firearm) that can accommodate more than 10 rounds. A large capacity magazine also includes linked ammunition with more than 10 rounds linked together or an ammunition belt with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds. |

So you can have it engraved to your liking before having it blued. |

I have one. Its a blast to shoot and cheap. It is not however, very accurate. The best I have managed (from a bench) was 6" at 100 yards using a 9mm major loading. It does seem to like the heavier 147s pushed to +p more than the lighter 115s. At 50 yards the Federal 9PBLE (+p+) clocked in at 1725fps but the projectiles EXPLODED like a varmint bullet. The Underwood +p 147 FMJ-FP are very good for exploding water jugs, pumpins and rining steel It feeds.flawlessy. I have not found any bullet profile it would not feed. The action is butter smooth but it does like being ratcheted hard and fast |

Be gingerly with the lever and malfunctions can and will occur. You should run a lever like you are going to rip the lever off. They are designed for that not gentle cycling |
