I owned one several years ago. It shot anything High Brass, duty rated shells, down to 1050 FPS. It would not shoot low brass, low 1100 FPS shells, the less expensive bird shot stuff you'd normally train with, federal, Winchester, etc. Because of that, I sold it off, and bought a 1301, which so far, has cycled everything but 900 FPS low brass. I sold the 940 to an arfcommer with full disclosure. If you are thinking of a Mossberg, wait for the 990 SPX. The gas system is much improved over the 940, and it cycles low power low brass training shells very reliably. I've got my LGS guy putting out feelers for a 990 SPX Class 3. Jay |
