Guys,

Can anyone tell me what this adjustable hanging wall material is called or where you can get it? Lowes and Home Depot are no help. I have tried google searches to no avail. I want to cover my gun room walls with the stuff if I can find it.

Thanks for your help.

Rob

But be careful- a lot of slatwall out there is not rated for loads that some larger firearms would apply.  The Gladiator Track and similar styles are, but the basic commercial stuff that you paint or stain generally is not.

I did gridwall in mine.  Metal grid type material that you put hooks on - similar idea to the slat wall material.  I used displaywarehouse.com

I would use something like this.  You can still mount them horizontally or customize it to your liking.

I'm a fan- have I mentioned that before?
Expensive stuff, unfortunately, but I can't say enough good things about it in terms of space efficiency, strength of mounting, and not trashing your stuff taking it in or out.

They are about halfway back in the thread I think.  Nevertheless, it's an amazing collection.

These pictures are of a bookcase that I made for a customer. This is an oak bookcase on two 500lbs glides with heavy duty wheels. When it is closed it looks like a normal bookcase. Unfortunately I don't have pictues of inside the room. I will have to try and get those.

Wow looks great!

Do you have plans/drawings for that that you can post?

Unfortunately I don't have any plans. It was one of a kind and some things were done on the flly.  Its in a 90yr old house so there were some issuses that I had no control over. The good thing is after two years everything still works as designed.

slate wall it is; Along with that my dad owns the company that makes all the plastic insert rails into the wall systems as well as all the plastic shevlving and brackets. if you have not already found info on the stuff it is very expensice given what it is IMHO.

Wow, talking about a thread that delivers this one does. I'm slowly building my own safe room in my basement making use of a 22' x 8' room built as a poured concrete/ rebar storm shelter. This room sits directly under my masonry porch and has two outside walls, last year I installed a Sturdy door at the threshold of this room and recently wired up electrical and lights so I can run a de-humidifier.

I have some questions as I do have a humidity problem in this room and thus the de-humidifier has to run very often to keep things at 35%. From talking to construction types as well as online research the lack of insulation is a problem as I don't have a damp basement or room. The bottom of my porch is coreagated steel, I know I need to paint this stuff with some sort or paint to keep rust from being an issue but I have no clue on what type of insulation. My thoughts are to use foam-board with a vapor barrier and the standard fiberglass over that to achieve a good R value and finish out my ceiling. The walls should be fairly simple, again using the foam-board and stud up the concrete walls. There I could use standard bats of fiberglass and use moisture-resistant green-board drywall. I plan on doing all this work myself for opsec reasons but do have a few trusted friends I could enlist.

Trouble I have is knowing what materials I need to use. I'm not really worried about someone busting threw he masonry porch to get in the room, that would take a lot of time and some heavy tools. Mainly I need to seal up that space, spray foam would likely be the best option but that's not a DYI thing. I'm looking for some suggestion and tips for those who have encountered this in their installs.

Yea, I can't wait till I get rid of my condo and get a house. I am specifically looking at houses with unfinished basements just so I can start from scratch on a room like this lol

I'm in the planning process of building my own gun room.

Has anyone concealed the door to their gun room with a hidden door or bookcase?

The Rhodesian army and the small AK/VOG/F-1 prints came from eBay, the RPG came from some british militaria website, the VP-7 I got through my work and he Afghan posters I got from an Afghan EOD team in Kandahar city.

I have 2 more large prints I'm having framed right now as well.  A Yugoslav landmine recognition print I got from an SF buddy and a canvas painting of a print of my team in Afghanstan donated by an artist to my former team leader through the wounded warrior foundation.
