Love my collapsible brace on my Stribog. Allows me to shoot it fully collapsed or in any position.

I didn't realize that it was considered the "OEM factory brace", since there is zero mention of it on GP's main website, so I assumed it was aftermarket like all the other choices. The only problem with that one is the problem I described above. I need to work on creating a stop that holds the brace about 1.5 inches from fully collapsed so it doesn't chafe the wrist of my grip hand when collapsed. Other than that, I like collapsible vs folding braces too, and I love the Tailhook -- in my opinion, it is the most usable brace design. Fast to deploy and easy to utilize in its intended fashion. |

After using the factory collapsing brace I have decided the weight helps balance the gun. When collapsed, it stays collapsed and does not need a button or lever to open. The deployed rod wiggle I thought would be the most annoying thing about the collapsing brace is NOT noticeable in use. There is one "perfect" length of pull... which is the ONLY one it offers, so that just simplfied things instead of being a negative compared the the A3 collapsing option with multiple LOP options (which is also a high cheek mount). Also, I thought I would hate the lack of actual cheek area vs a folder, but don't mind it one bit. Somehow the Stribog is MUCH better than AK under folders or MP5 collapsing stocks that built my preconception. If you buy that HK style folder and are in ANY way not satisfied with it due to it not staying folded all the way, left/right wiggle developing, width for storage, etc. please consider the factory collapsing option. It is hugely underrated. I have a coworker who decided on the 5" SP9A3S with factory collapsing brace option after trying mine. It really is a heavenly match. In fact, I liked his 5" Stribog so much, I will probably buy a second Stribog in 5" length to do the factory collapsing/Romeo5 low mount combo again, with my SiCo Omega9k for a small bag gun. This has taken a back seat for now. Still deciding if I want to buy this. For me I have never tried the thin braces. Not sure if I would like the chin weld on those. |

Over 1000 rounds on my Stribog A3S stock buffer and block with 20rd stick mags. It’s my favorite gun I’ve ever bought. We run it hard at the range running drills a couple times a month. Love this thing and don’t consider the “upgrades” in the OP as absolutely necessary.
The one thing I did change is I put reduced power JP AR springs in the trigger (AR springs are a 100% drop in fit) and it made the trigger twice as good

Question, what do you think makes it better than a CZ Scorpion? Sincere question, not trolling. I actually like my AKV the best so far, but suppressed you get a ton of gas back at ya. |

Which not only makes it pleasant by spreading the recoil impulse, it also is less gassy since more time for the pressure to go out the muzzle end. It also makes the gun lighter, and the recoil impulse milder upon bolt slam back and fort, as the roller delay doesn't need as much mass as a blowback bolt, to not explode. Reading between the lines - I have zero interest in the A1 model, A3 only. And it's much lighter than the other roller -delay option (MP5). People say the Mp5 is still smoother.. well yea, ot weighs like... what, 25% more? Imagine that, it has less recoil with all that heavy steel. An M2 Browning with a 5.56 BBL is pretty smooth too I bet. |

I have had pretty much zero problems with mine. I changed the lower for a Lingle lower, I use AK-V mags and they fit a little snug but work great.
HBI buffer, 40 degree block, shoots really nice suppressed. I did sent the barrel to Morgan at Class 3 Machining (RIP) to have the threads fixed. Someone at Grand Power got confused and used the rifle spec for the threads, so the pitch is right but the threading is too long, so you can get issues with silencers seating properly. Morgan fixed it up to pistol threading specs. Removing the barrel from this thing is a real SOB. There are two barrel nuts which require a special tool which ILWT sells. Mine were on there incredibly tight. I had to 3d print a vice block to hold the receiver steady and use a 1/2" impact wrench to loosen the nuts. ILWT also sells better ejector screws, whatever they used from the factory are soft and the heads strip very easily. Replace them. |

I recently purchased a SP9A3S with curved mags, SBR'ed it with the factory folder, and installed the 40 degree. In terms of recoil, mine seems quite different from what others claim in this thread and elsewhere on ARF, especially in comparison to a MP5 type.
1st, I shot it side by side unsuppressed using 115gr with a APC9 SBR and found the Stribog definitely softer, as expected. Not by a huge amount, but it was obvious enough that I'd put them in separate groups. Later, I shot it side by side unsuppressed using 115gr with a Kriss SDP SBR 9mm with a .45 slider and recoil spring, and they felt very similar, hard to tell apart, and I'd group them together. Later still, I shot side by side the Stribog unsuppressed using 147gr with a MPX-K SBR with a custom gas plug and suppressed with an Omega 9K (short barrel, long hand guard, tucked suppressor and I didn't want to remove the hand guard) as well as a SP5 SBR unsuppressed with an 80 degree locking piece. The MPX-K and SP5 felt very similar, hard to tell apart, with the SP5 being slightly softer. The Stribog recoil was stout and harsh in comparison to either of them. I'd group the MPX-K and SP5 together and the Stribog in a separate group. I know, I know, the SP5 weighs more, unsuppressed vs suppressed isn't fair, blah, blah, blah. Regardless, my experience seems quite different to others. So much so, I'm curious if some actually compared them side by side, or are just going from memory, or who knows what. I have some ideas I'd like to try with the Stribog locking block. I'd also like to get a 35 degree to play with. So, if anyone has a friend in Norway, where I found a vendor, or a lead on one, please let me know! |
