There seems to be no shortage of standalone, cost-effective Level 3 and 4 plates these days. Why does it seem like ICW plates are so much pricier and harder to find? I wear a TT E-MBAV at work and run IIIA soft armor 99% of the time. But there are times when I wouldn't mind having some hard plates in there, depending on the event I'm at. I'm allowed to buy my own plates and would like to get some good ICW plates to keep on hand. My thought process for ICW over standalone is my assumption that they are going to be thinner and lighter than a standalone. Since I will always have at least soft armor on, it seems like the best option. Are there any relatively affordable choices out there? These seem to be just about the only thing I can find. Price is nice, but I'd like to see more. |

Bulletproofme.com has sapi plates, level 4 for about 200$ each. .5 inches thick, just over six pounds a plate. They are thin but heavy, and they took a couple a few weeks to ship when I ordered them a few years ago. The thinnest… Bare strike face. These add very little weight and almost no bulk to a duty vest, but the level of additional protection is up to your diy skills. RMA also has some 3+ icw options that are about .5” thick and 5 lbs |

He emailed me on the 19th to let me know he was behind, and "they should ship next week". Every week since then it's been the same "should ship next week". Is this guy legit? I'm sure body armor orders are crazy right now and it doesn't seem like he runs a big operation so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but stuff like this always makes me a bit nervous. |
