Good morning,

I inherited a Marlin 336 that's seen better days unfortunately. There was some light surface rust that hasn't pitted yet, but was getting close. I'm wondering if there are any companies anyone has used in the past where I could send the stripped parts to so they can be blasted and re-blued. Trying to go for as close to factory as possible.

Looked into doing this at home, but it seems like way more work than what I want to get myself into.

Budget? "Blasted and reblued" Wil result in a non gloss finish,if that's what you want. How old is the Rifle? Might make a difference on refinish or not.

Didn't think about that. I'd rather as close to the stock finish as possible so no blasting then.

Serial number starts with an "M" so everything I'm seeing online leads me to believe it was manufactured in 1955.

Edit: I'm reasonable on a budget. Not looking to spend a giant fortune, but would rather it done well the first time.

I used Ahlmans on my 444 several years back.  I just sent them the metal parts bagged up and kept the stock as I had so much time invested in it there was no way it was leaving my possession.  Opted for the normal factory type polish and bead blasted top and bottom on the receiver.

As far as polish goes you can tell it has been reblued by looking at the rollmarks but it is not too bad.  They only polished what needed polished.  Overall I am pleased.  It looks as good as it did when I got it back from them.
