Picked up a pair of Finn's last Friday and filled a couple holes in the collection. Top rifle is a Finnish Army M27 with a barrel made in 1930 by Tikka and the bottom rifle is a Finnish Civil Guard M24. The M24 has a Civil Guard district number that tracks to the city of Viipuri which is part of the territory Finland lost to Russia and is now the Russian city of Vyborg.

Very nice!
I love Finn Mosins, my favorite Mosins to collect, lots of history. I'm still reading Matt DiRisio's Finnish Mosin Nagant book, just finished the M39 chapter last night. I still need an M24 for my collection. I have a 1937 M27, however it's no longer in it's original stock. I believe it's in an M28 stock. ETA, very cool connection to Viipuri on the M24. |

Matt's book has been a game changer for we English speaking Finn collectors, I have copy #39 with his autograph. It's one of the best reference books on Mosin's ever printed and certainly the best in English. Caused me to move my collection in a completely different direction. |
