| I've seen authentic ones priced $280-$340 , clones for $60 . I've never seen one but I want one I think ?? . Anyone here own one? What are your thoughts on these? |

M7 is a better bayonet than the M9. That's why the Army uses the M9.  ETA: And by use, I mean store in locked, taped storage lockers rather than training with them, instead preferring to wrestle around in the dirt and cause muscle-skeletal injuries the American taxpayer will pay for via the VA in the future. |

I like that the sheath is ambi, upper section is sharpened & blade is partial serated. Modern Bowie Bought my 1st at a small VFW funshow in VA $50 included sharpening Picked up the nicest out of 2 Rubbermaid ™ grey trash cans :D 2nd I bought brand new from vaguntrader.com/forums I paid $110 shipped Feb 2021 Hard to believe they're going for that much anymore |

The M7 is often overlooked due to its age and humble physical appearance, but it's probably the best functional US-issued M16 bayonet. The OKC-3S is good too. It's just really big and heavy. You don't really get any extra performance there (except for the serrations). In actual bayonet fighting, it would slow you down. Nobody really bayonet fights anymore. Ontario made a civilian M7-B with a handle like the OKC-3S handle and that's a functionally awesome bayonet, but not issued. https://ontarioknife.com/products/m7-b-bayonet?variant=31397364465750 The USMC officially adopted Eickhorn's Bayonet 2000, but didn't actually issue it out. (The resulting political shit fit culminated in Ontario getting the contract for the OKC-3S). Now Eickhorn offers their Bayonet 2005. It's available in a variety of configurations and is issued by several foreign militaries today. It's an excellent choice. If you want to buy an OKC-3S that's identical to USMC issue, you'll need to find an older one that is roll marked. It'll have parkerization over the markings. There are later examples that were laser engraved (so cut into the parkerizing) and that's not how any issued USMC ones were marked (if that matters to you). |

There are some Chinese M7 copies running around. |

| Got mine from here at Colemans. It's large and heavy but my main AR squeeze has the ability to mount it. Something about crowds in this country makes me want the capability, and I have no ideation about bayonet charges. Just the option of keeping crowds further than arms length. |

Had my personal M7 I carried for years. Agree a decent design and suitable bayonet When deployed, we were issued the M9 ( Army) after the first couple missions outside the wire, I dropped it in the bottom of my duffle and never carried it again. Big heavy snagged on stuff - stuck to a couple of folders. With all the stuff we carried, was just too heavy and bulky |

get the OKC 3S , they have really jumped in value , not to say a big influx of surplus can change that , its a beast , as is the M9 , i just picked up (on the way) a OKC-3S and comparing the M7 to the M9 is not really a comparison , the M7 is light , but the M9 is pretty much indestructible , or at least way more than the M7        |

The M9 is as heavy as it is to protect the blade from being broken around that hole, & there were still reports after issue of it breaking. I'm not aware of any reports of such in regards to the M7 or the M3 fighting knife.

A more functional (but expensive) method of obtaining an OKC-3 is to purchase the FNH Military Collectors series M16A4, as it comes with one in the box. It’s quite sharp, too! I appreciated that thoughtful little touch, despite the exorbitant price. I still occasionally practice bayonet drill in the back yard, just for fun, and as a way of unnerving any potential observers who may be thinking of trespassing in the dark of the night. No one feels very home invasioney when a naked madman bellowing words of death is coming at them with a blade on the end of a rifle, hucking AWS 4-bangers at them on the way to the bloodletting… |
