| Finally got around to SBRing my old IMI Uzi Model B last year and trying to decide whether to swap to the wood stock or stay with the metal folder. The wood stock is the original IMI stock that I’ve had for decades, since I bought the gun back in the 80’s, so it’s in excellent condition. I like the classic look of the folding stock when folded, but to be fair, it’s not very comfortable when shooting. The wood stock is a lot more comfortable. The stock was made for the semi-auto UZI carbine, so it lacks the QD feature of the military one, but I’m not sure what that would really buy me since while you can easily remove the wood stock, I don’t think you can simply swap out with the folding stock. Thoughts? |

If you switch to the QD wood stock, yes you can just swap a steel folding stock on whenever you want. (Normally the bolt head is staked for the folding stock, but that isn't necessary.) The wooden stock is much better to shoot with. |

I didn’t think that the folding stock is QD using the same hardware as the QD wood stock. Are you saying that if I get the military QD wood stock, I can just swap slots by pressing a button on the stock and sliding it on and off? |

You'd still have to bolt the metal folding stock assembly on, if you want to use it. You just don't have to stake the bolt. |

You just don't have to stake the bolt. That’s what I thought. No real advantage to the military wood stock over the IMI civilian wood stock for me since I’d have to unbolt and bolt to swap anyway. Not really interested in firing it without a stock, plus a lot of the military wood stocks are pretty well worn. I’m t worried about the bolt stake since I broke that decades ago. |
